Toivanen tutki väitöskirjassaan ennallistamisen, erityisesti luontaisten metsäpalojen jäljittelyn ja lahopuun tuoton, lyhyen aikavälin vaikutuksia havumetsien kovakuoriaislajistoon. Ennallistamisella pyritään luontaisten rakenteiden, toimintojen ja lajikoostumuksen palauttamiseen ihmisen muuttamiin ekosysteemeihin. Ennallistamisen tarve on suuri erityisesti Etelä-Suomessa, missä suuri osa suojelluistakaan alueista ei täytä luonnontilaisen metsän vaatimuksia pitkän metsien käytön historian johdosta. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kunta-alan hoitohenkilöstön eettistä kuormittuneisuutta ja eettisten dilemmojen sisältöjä kahden eri dilemmatyypin suhteen. Eettistä kuormittuneisuutta kuvattiin eettisten dilemmojen useudella ja niistä johtuvalla stressillä. Dilemmatyypeistä ensimmäinen kuvasi tilanteita, joissa hoitaja ei tiennyt oikeaa toimintatapaa (A-tyypin dilemma) ja toinen tilanteita, joissa hoitaja joutui toimimaan sääntöjen, normien tai omien arvojensa vastaisesti (B-tyypin dilemma). AbstractIn the Open Dialogue (OD) based psychiatric services adolescent patients receive less medication and are more often treated within an outpatient setting as compared to standard services. An evaluation of the possible risks of implementing OD are required. The aim of this longitudinal register-based study was to evaluate how treatment under OD is associated with the probability of suicide as compared standard psychiatric care. Abstract Background: The long-term effectiveness of antipsychotic maintenance treatment after first-episode psychosis (FEP) is contested. In this real-world observational study, we examined how cumulative exposure to antipsychotics within the first 5 years from FEP was associated with the 19-year outcome. For eutrophic lakes, achieving good water quality usually requires a reduction in external loading. The Lake Load Response (LLR) tool, based on the LakeState (LS) model, can be used to predict the necessary loading reduction, which can be utilized when making decisions on the management of the lake. The best predictions are made when the input values of the incoming loading, water outflow and in-lake total phosphorus, total nitrogen and chlorophyll a concentrations are as accurate as possible. Accurate loading data is often hard to collect because of the lack of resources for observations.
