Integrated Reputation Analysis at Daimler

2011

Einwiller and Kuhn then describe how Daimler has developed “SCORA,” its integrated system for corporate reputation analysis. To establish the system, Daimler firstly had to determine target variables, influencing factors, and relevant stakeholder groups. The authors explain how their company has identified relevant regions, benchmarks, and the appropriate methodology for its tool. “SCORA” combines media content analysis and stakeholder surveying to fully capture Daimler’s reputation. It additionally reveals relations between stakeholders’ perceptions and the depiction of the car manufacturer in the media. An example of such an analysis concludes this chapter.

A fuzzy framework to evaluate service quality in the healthcare industry: An empirical case of public hospital service evaluation in Sicily

2016

A novel fuzzy framework is considered to analyze healthcare service quality. The fundamental quality structure of healthcare service delivered in Sicily is described. The public healthcare in Sicily (Italy) is strategically analyzed.Strategic stakeholders' oriented implications for healthcare improvements are given. A novel fuzzy evaluation framework is applied in this study to evaluate service quality in the public healthcare sector. In particular, the proposed framework is based on the ServQual disconfirmation paradigm and incorporates the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to elicit reliable estimations of service quality expectations. Moreover, degrees of uncertainty, subjectivity an…

2014

EnglishUnder Section 122 Para. 3 of the German Stock Corporation Act, a court may authorise shareholders to call a sh…

Decoding the Folding of Burkholderia glumae Lipase: Folding Intermediates En Route to Kinetic Stability

2012

The lipase produced by Burkholderia glumae folds spontaneously into an inactive near-native state and requires a periplasmic chaperone to reach its final active and secretion-competent fold. The B. glumae lipase-specific foldase (Lif) is classified as a member of the steric-chaperone family of which the propeptides of alpha-lytic protease and subtilisin are the best known representatives. Steric chaperones play a key role in conferring kinetic stability to proteins. However, until present there was no solid experimental evidence that Lif-dependent lipases are kinetically trapped enzymes. By combining thermal denaturation studies with proteolytic resistance experiments and the description of…

Health behaviours and mental and physical health status in older adults with a history of homelessness:a cross-sectional population-based study in En…

2019

Objectives: This study compared (1) levels of engagement in lifestyle risk behaviours and (2) mental and physical health status in individuals who have previously been homeless to those of individuals who have not. Design: Cross-sectional. Participants: Data were from participants (n=6931) of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. Measures: Participants reported whether they had ever been homeless. We used regression models to analyse associations between homelessness and (1) cigarette smoking, daily alcohol consumption and physical inactivity, adjusting for sociodemographic covariates (age, sex, ethnicity, highest level of education, marital status and household non-pension wealth) and …

Institutional systems inducing R&D in Amazon- the role of an investor surplus toward stakeholder capitalization

2020

Abstract Amazon demonstrated a conspicuous increase in R&D and became the world's top R&D firm in 2017 with a skyrocketing increase in market capitalization, making it close to being the world's biggest company. Such a remarkable accomplishment can be attributed to Amazon's institutional systems, which orchestrate techno-financing systems that fuse a unique R&D transformation system and a sophisticated financing system centered on the cash conversion cycle (CCC). These institutional systems support and endorse aggressive investment in R&D that incorporates the characteristics of uncertainty, a long lead time, and successive inflows of very large amounts of funding without interruption. Whil…

The Impact of Business Group Affiliation and Country-Level Institutions on Corporate Governance of Emerging Market Firms

2020

This study outlines how the corporate governance of emerging market firms is influenced by corporate affiliation and institutional embeddedness. We argue that the stronger the business group affiliation, the less likely is the emerging market firm to adopt shareholder value enhancing corporate governance, and that this relationship is moderated by institutional quality and tribalism. Based on189 initial public offerings (IPOs) from 22 African countries between 2000and 2016, we find a significant negative relationship between business group ownership and IPO firms’ quality of corporate governance. We also find this relationship to be significantly negatively moderated by country-level instit…

Foreign institutional investors and dividend policy: Evidence from China

2017

Abstract This study examines whether foreign institutional investment influences firms’ dividend policies. Using data from all domestically listed nonfinancial firms in China during the period of 2003–2013, we find that foreign shareholding influences dividend decisions and vice versa. Furthermore, changes in dividend payments over time positively affect subsequent changes in foreign shareholding, but the opposite is not true. Our study indicates that foreign institutional investors do not change firms’ future dividend payments once they have made their investment choices in China. Moreover, they self-select into Chinese firms that pay high dividends. Our evidence suggests that in an instit…

An International Perspective on the Moral Maturity of Marketers

2010

The value chain networks created by international marketers criss-cross cultures and jurisdictions across the globe. Some of these jurisdictions are plagued by inadequate institutions or behavioural traffic rules, which do not promote flourishing lives for affected parties. As marketers facilitate these exchanges, there is a temptation to take a limited view of one's responsibilities for possible adverse consequences of these exchanges. A primitive approach to responsibility would be an individual cost/benefit analysis of the sticks and carrots involved in the transaction and a move as close to the minimum requirement as possible. A more mature marketer may consider her own culture's conve…
