Photorefractive and photochromic effects in Sn2P2S6 at various temperatures

2013

Abstract Photochromic effect in nominally pure and doped Sn 2 P 2 S 6 photorefractive crystals is investigated in the temperature range 120–310 K. This effect determines a mechanism of the amplitude hologram formation at low temperatures, and we show that a competition between the photorefractive (phase) and the amplitude gratings occurs at increasing temperature.

Spatially resolved optical studies of F-center diffusion in KBr crystals.

1996

Spatially resolved optical studies of F-center diffusion during and after the photothermal F\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X color center conversion have been performed by optical scanning and holographic methods in electrolytically colored KBr crystals. Average velocities and diffusion coefficients of F centers have been determined for Gaussian and periodical spatial exposing light intensity distributions. A strong influence of the light intensity gradient has been found on F-center diffusion. It manifests itself by a rapid increase of the effective diffusion coefficient when the light intensity gradient is decreased. This behavior allowed us to explain the observed peculiarities of the holograph…

Photoinduced mass transport in low molecular organic glasses and its practical application in holography

2015

Abstract In this paper we present the synthesis and optical properties of amorphous low molecular compound 4-((4-(bis(5,5,5-Triphenylpentyl)amino)phenyl)diazenyl)benzoic acid. The surface relief gratings formation by polarization holography method on these thin films (thicknesses are 200–1700 nm) was shown. The dependence of the surface relief modulation on various parameters: recording exposure dose, the polarization state of the recording beams, the grating period and the film thickness of the material was demonstrated. Values of surface tension at the air-film before and after irradiation of the substance by polarized radiation were measured. The efficiency of surface relief formation in…

<title>Amorphous chalcogenide thin films as a media for holographic recording</title>

2004

The amorphous As2S3 and As40S15Se45 films as a recording media for optical holography and lithography were studied. The results on research of the transmission, surface-relief and Bragg reflection grating holographic recording and readout conditions are presented. The recording of transmission holographic gratings in As40S15Se45 films was performed by He-Ne (0.6328 μm) laser beam, while the redout of the diffraction efficiency was made at Bragg agle using diode (0.805 μm) laser lines. The Bragg reflection gratings in As2S3 films were recorded and studied by Ar+ laser line 0.5145 μm. The surface-relief modulated gratings with a period of 0.15 μm - 1 μm were recorded.© (2004) COPYRIGHT SPIE--…

Usage of moving nanoparticles for improved holographic recording

2013

Metal nanoparticles are used for different applications in holographic configurations. The metal nanoparticles are placed close to an object and encode it by a time varying random mask. A decoding mask is computed and used to obtain super-resolution digital hologram and eliminate the twin image and DC from a digital hologram. The method is also shown to be applicable for other optical methods.

Measurement of Young's modulus of cementitious materials using an electro-optic holographic technique

2001

Abstract The electro-optic holographic technique has already been used to determine Young's dynamic modulus in homogeneous materials based on the resonance frequency of the analysed samples. This paper shows a modification of the determination method of this frequency that speeds up this process thus obtaining Young's modulus. Based on the visualisation of real time fringes drawn by exciting the rods at the 1000–10,000 Hz range, the proposed method allows us to determine their resonance frequencies. This procedure has been used in the analysis of non-homogeneous materials such as mortar and concrete. The results obtained by this method show good correlation with those determined by the conv…

Surface Periodic Poling in Lithium Niobate and Lithium Tantalate

2005

Periodic Poling of Lithium Niobate crystals (PPLN) by means of electric field has revealed the best technique for finely tailoring PPLN structures and parameters, which play a central role in many current researches in the field of nonlinear integrated optics. Besides the most studied technique of bulk poling, recently a novel technique where domain inversion occurs just in a surface layer using photoresist or silica masks has been devised and studied. This surface periodic poling (SPP) approach is best suited when light is confined in a thin surface guiding layer or stripe, as in the case of optical waveguide devices. Also, we found that SPP respect to bulk poling offers two orders of magn…

Improved quantitative phase imaging in lensless microscopy by single-shot multi-wavelength illumination using a fast convergence algorithm.

2015

We report on a novel algorithm for high-resolution quantitative phase imaging in a new concept of lensless holographic microscope based on single-shot multi-wavelength illumination. This new microscope layout, reported by Noom et al. along the past year and named by us as MISHELF (initials incoming from Multi-Illumination Single-Holographic-Exposure Lensless Fresnel) microscopy, rises from the simultaneous illumination and recording of multiple diffraction patterns in the Fresnel domain. In combination with a novel and fast iterative phase retrieval algorithm, MISHELF microscopy is capable of high-resolution (micron range) phase-retrieved (twin image elimination) biological imaging of dynam…
