Biotic homogenization of forest bird communities under human influence

Human actions impact biodiversity worldwide. Specialist species are particularly sensitive to environmental degradation whereas generalists may even benefit from habitat changes. As a consequence, specialists are declining while generalists are increasing and, therefore, communities become more similar. This phenomenon is known as biotic homogenization. In boreal forests logging and forest management is the most important factor changing the native habitat. In this thesis I studied if human actions are homogenizing boreal forest bird communities. Oppilasryhmän vaikutus opettajan toimintaan yläkoulun poikien palloilutunneilla

Tutkimuksemme tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten erilaiset oppilasryhmät vaikuttavat opettajan toimintaan ja eroaako opettajan toiminta hetero- ja homogeenisen ryhmän välillä. Tutkimme opettajan toimintaa kolmen pääkohdan pohjalta, joita olivat organisointi, instruktio, vuorovaikutus. Tämän lisäksi teimme havaintoja tunnin yleisilmeestä. Aineistona tutkimuksessa käytettiin kahdeksaa videoitua liikuntatuntia, jotka olivat yläkoulun poikien palloilutunteja. DIALECTIC AND SOCIAL HETEROGENEITY IN ERNESTO LACLAU

The present article aims to examine critically Laclau’s claim that the trend toward social heterogenization revokes the Dialectic, or, more specifically, the clear and strict line of demarcation between what falls within the Dialectic and what falls outside of it. Polemicizing with the assumption of this reading, I argue that the appearance of a radical heterogeneity rather exposes the undecidability of relations between the Dialectic and what is a heterogeneity.
