Power laws and the market structure of tourism industry

In this article, we use both graphical and analytical methods to investigate the market structure of one of the world’s fastest growing industries. For the German and Italian datasets, we show that the size distribution of tourism industry is heavy-tailed and consistent with a power-law behavior in its upper tail. Such a behavior seems quite persistent over the time horizon covered by our study, provided that during the period 2004–2009, the shape parameter is always in the vicinity of 2.5 for Germany and 2.6 for Italy. In this paper, we have presented a generalization of Bucci's (2003) model in which have disentangled the monopolistic mark-up in the intermediate goods sector, the intermediate goods share in the final output and the returns to specialization in order to have a better measurement of competition. Indeed, unlike Bucci (2003), in our model, the measure of competition is completely independent of the intermediate goods share in the final output and the returns to specialization. Acu kustību modelēšana horizontālās skenēšanas uzdevumos

Bakalaura darbā tiek veikts pētījums par acu kustību analīzi, laiku kāda tiek atrasta noteikta informācija horizontālās skenēšanas uzdevumos un cik reizes pirms tam ir bijusi skatiena fiksācija. Darba mērķis noteikt vai izceltu stimulu meklēšana notiek ātrāk kā neizceltu stimulu. Darbā tika veikti eksperimenti ar 30 dalībniekiem, ar acu kustību analīzes iekārtu. Rezultāta netika novērotas lielas atšķirības starp izceltu un neizceltu stimulu meklēšanu, bet tika pamanīts, ka meklēšana notiek lēnāk un lielāks skaits ar neatrastiem stimuliem ir gadījumos, kad ir daudz nevajadzīgu citu stimulu attēlā, kas novērš uzmanību.

We propose a meta-model to structure the knowledge of HSC and to obtain a shared vision of the HSC. Evolutionary relationships among the members of an ancient class of non-LTR retrotransposons found in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.

We took advantage of the massive amount of sequence information generated by the Caenorhabditis elegans genome project to perform a comprehensive analysis of a group of over 100 related sequences that has allowed us to describe two new C. elegans non-LTR retrotransposons. We named them Sam and Frodo. We also determined that several highly divergent subfamilies of both elements exist in C. elegans. It is likely that several master copies have been active at the same time in C. elegans, although only a few copies of both Sam and Frodo have characteristics that are compatible with them being active today. The microbiota in the human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is highly exposed to antibiotics, and may be an important reservoir of resistant strains and transferable resistance genes. Maternal GIT strains can be transmitted to the offspring, and resistances could be acquired from birth. This is a case study using a metagenomic approach to determine the diversity of microorganisms conferring tetracycline resistance (Tc(r)) in the guts of a healthy mother-infant pair one month after childbirth, and to investigate the potential for horizontal transfer and maternal transmission of Tc(r) genes.
