Oscillatory periodic pattern dynamics in hyperbolic reaction-advection-diffusion models

In this work we consider a quite general class of two-species hyperbolic reaction-advection-diffusion system with the main aim of elucidating the role played by inertial effects in the dynamics of oscillatory periodic patterns. To this aim, first, we use linear stability analysis techniques to deduce the conditions under which wave (or oscillatory Turing) instability takes place. Then, we apply multiple-scale weakly nonlinear analysis to determine the equation which rules the spatiotemporal evolution of pattern amplitude close to criticality. Characterization and hypericins content in some Hypericum species from Sicily

Different species belonging to the genus Hypericum are distributed into many environments of Sicily, where they represent an important component of wild Sicilian flora (Giardina et al., 2007). Among these, H. perforatum (St John’s Wort) is certainly the most common and famous; its floral parts are largely and traditionally used as a folk herbal remedy for treatment of wounds and burns, and considered an important raw matter for pharmaceutical industry due to their acknowledged antidepressant and sedative properties. Our objective is to encourage the human-computer interface designers to be more interested in the uses made of their product by taking into account to a higher degree the human-factor in the testing phase which often is too focused on technical aspects. We want to facilitate the integration of the user as a source of evaluation during the testing phase. Our aim is to offer the designer a software environment of practical tests that allow them to have their own products evaluated by their users. We undertook an experiment to explore the feasibility of this project.

Abstract We provide a structural characterization of all continua X whose hyperspace C ( X ) of all subcontinua is the countable union of Peano continua. Applying this result we prove that there exists a uniformly path connected continuum X with no continuous mapping from C ( X ) onto X.
