Plasma aldosterone and its relationship with left ventricular mass in hypertensive patients with early-stage chronic kidney disease

Plasma aldosterone concentrations (PACs) are often increased in the advanced stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD); however, PAC has not been fully investigated in early CKD. Moreover, little is known about the relationship between aldosteronemia and left ventricular (LV) mass in subjects with mild-to-moderate CKD. The study objectives were to analyze PAC, LV mass (LVM), LV geometry and their relationships, in a group of hypertensive patients with stage I-III CKD. OBJECTIVES: The purpose is to evaluate in vivo at rest and under stress conditions hemodynamic performance of the small size St. Jude Medical Regent (SJMR) prosthetic valve in patients with a body surface area (BSA) of 1.8 ± 0.11 m(2) and to define the role of valve prosthesis- patient mismatch on left ventricular mass regression following aortic valve replacement. The effects of whey protein ingestion on acute and long-term signaling responses of resistance exercise are not well known. Abstract Objective Tonsillar hypertrophy caused by the progressive accumulation of partially degraded glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) within the cells is a typical symptom in patients with mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS). We studied the tissue of adenoids and tonsils of patients suffering from MPS with special regard to characteristic morphological features serving as possible markers for diagnosis.
