Les traces de pas d'amphibiens, de dinosaures et autres reptiles du Mésozoïque français: inventaire et interprétations.

2007

Since the 19th century, thousands of footprints were observed in the geological series of the French Mesozoic. All are located in the Triassic and Jurassic. After a promising beginning, in France, it is only a few papers which will be published in the first half 20th century, unlike the USA and of others countries of Western Europe. One ought to wait about 1950 for a revival and now they are nearly 200 papers which were devoted to the ichnofossils. The literature abundance and the renewed interest of the naturalists for the palichnologic studies decided to us to write a synthesis work. This one begins with a stratigraphic inventory in which, localisation, age and paleontological contents of…

Evidence of conservative treatment for overuse injuries analysis of systematic reviews

2011

Overuse injuries are common among top athletes and people who exercise regularly. Conservative, non-pharmacological methods are used widely to treat overuse injuries and there is a large body of literature, including multiple systematic reviews, evaluating different terms of treatment. This literature needs summarizing and critiquing. Objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different methods of conservative treatment on overuse injuries and to provide an analysis of systematic reviews. Published systematic reviews were identified by searching Medline, PEDro, Cochrane and Sportdiscus databases from the year 1996 to July 2010. Reference lists of identified studies were al…

Musiikin vaikutukset nuorten kokemuksiin televisiomainosten sukupuolittuneisuudesta

2015

Supernova-neutrino induced reactions on molybdenum via neutral-currents

2012

In this thesis which consists of an introductory part and six publications the neutralcurrent neutrino-nucleus scatterings o the stable molybdenum nuclei are studied using microscopic nuclear models. The main focus is on supernova neutrinos and the nuclear responses to them for the aforementioned nuclei are computed by folding the computed cross sections with realistic neutrino-energy spectra. In this work both the coherent and incoherent contributions to the cross sections are considered. The contributions from the prominent multipole channels to the incoherent cross sections are also discussed in great detail.

Analysis of the therapeutical properties of a phage against Staphylococcus aureus pig isolates, and phage isolation against Pseudomonas aeruginosa fr…

2017

Antibioottiresistenttiys on kasvava ongelma, jonka selättämiseksi tarvitaan uusia keinoja. Prekliinisten tutkimustulosten perusteella bakteereja infektoivien virusten eli faagien on havaittu olevan hyvä vaihtoehto antibiooteille. Sairaalanäytteestä löydettyä metisilliinille resistenttiä Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) -kantaa vastaan eristetty bakteriofagi karakterisoitiin sekvensoimalla ja läpäisyelektronimikroskoopilla, jotta sen mahdollista terapeuttista käyttöä voitaisiin selvittää. Faagilla havaittiin olevan keskikokoinen 43,098 bp:n pituinen genomi ja faagin morfologian perusteella se lukeutuu Siphoviridae-heimoon kuuluviin hännällisiin faageihin. Faagi puhdistettiin anioninvaihtokromato…

A "DUAL" MODEL OF A MASSIVE SPIN-1/2 POINT PARTICLE, AND A THEORETICAL EXPLANATION FOR THE EFFECT OF "MAXIMAL PARITY-VIOLATION"

2006

The open question left by elementary particle physics about the origin of the so-called ``maximal parity-violation'' is dealt with. It is shown that an actual theoretical answer could be found within a new relativistic quantum field formalism being a strictly covariant fermion--antifermion extension of the usual one for massive fermions. This formalism can account naturally for the effect at issue, in such a way as even to restore both parity and charge-conjugation symmetries: it spontaneously provides a true ``chiral field'' approach, which gives rise to the conjecture of a pseudoscalar (extra) charge variety anticommuting with the scalar (ordinary) one and just underlying the ``maximally …

Musiikki televisiomainosten naisrepresentaatioiden muokkaajana

2012

Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin mainosmusiikkia ajankohtaisten televisiomainosten naisrepresentaatioiden muokkaajana. Tavoitteena oli kartoittaa vähän tutkittua arkipäiväistä ilmiötä ja tuoda esiin uutta tietoa musiikin ja kuvan suhteesta mediakontekstissa. Aineisto koostui 83 ajankohtaisesta televisiomainoksesta, joita analysoitiin laadullisen sisällönanalyysin menetelmin. Mainokset jaettiin naistyypin perusteella neljään kategoriaan: aktiiviseen, arkiseen, ihanteelliseen ja itsenäiseen. Tutkimuksessa raportoidaan tutkimustulokset 17 itsenäinen-kategorian mainoksen osalta. Naisrepresentaatioita tarkasteltiin Butlerin performatiivisuuden käsitteen valossa tarkastelemalla mainosnaisten tekoja, e…

Taxonomy and ecology of metazoan parasites of otariids from Patagonia, Argentina : adult and infective stages

2013

At present, the metazoan parasite fauna of most species of otariids is generally poorly known, in part because these marine mammals are mostly protected and, therefore, sampling is limited to specimens stranded on the coast or captured as by-catch in fisheries. Similar problems also occur for the larval stages of gastrointestinal helminths of otariids. For most of these parasite species, the specific identity of the intermediate/paratenic of hosts is unknown and, therefore, many stages of their life cycles remain to be described. Similarly, little is known about the routes of transmission of these parasites between intermediate/paratenic hosts to their otariids definitive hosts. The present…

MTOR inhibitor-based combination therapies for pancreatic cancer

2018

Background: Although the mechanistic target of rapamycin (MTOR) kinase, included in the mTORC1 and mTORC2 signalling hubs, has been demonstrated to be active in a significant fraction of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the value of the kinase as a therapeutic target needs further clarification. Methods: We used Mtor floxed mice to analyse the function of the kinase in context of the pancreas at the genetic level. Using a dual-recombinase system, which is based on the flippase-FRT (Flp-FRT) and Cre-loxP recombination technologies, we generated a novel cellular model, allowing the genetic analysis of MTOR functions in tumour maintenance. Cross-species validation and pha…

Thiazole Analogues of the Marine Alkaloid Nortopsentin as Inhibitors of Bacterial Biofilm Formation

2020

Anti-virulence strategy is currently considered a promising approach to overcome the global threat of the antibiotic resistance. Among different bacterial virulence factors, the biofilm formation is recognized as one of the most relevant. Considering the high and growing percentage of multi-drug resistant infections that are biofilm-mediated, new therapeutic agents capable of counteracting the formation of biofilms are urgently required. In this scenario, a new series of 18 thiazole derivatives was efficiently synthesized and evaluated for its ability to inhibit biofilm formation against the Gram-positive bacterial reference strains Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and S. aureus ATCC 6538 a…
