Response calculations based on an independent particle system with the exact one-particle density matrix: Excitation energies
2012
Adiabatic response time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) suffers from the restriction to basically an occupied → virtual single excitation formulation. Adiabatic time-dependent density matrix functional theory allows to break away from this restriction. Problematic excitations for TDDFT, viz. bonding-antibonding, double, charge transfer, and higher excitations, are calculated along the bond-dissociation coordinate of the prototype molecules H2 and HeH+ using the recently developed adiabatic linear response phase-including (PI) natural orbital theory (PINO). The possibility to systematically increase the scope of the calculation from excitations out of (strongly) occupied into wea…
Electron-transfer dynamics in a donor—acceptor complex
1991
Abstract Density matrix theory is used for the study of the dissipative quantum dynamics of electron transfer in a donor—acceptor complex. The vibrational modes of the complex are divided into a single interaction coordinate coupling to the transferred electron and the remaining modes which form a dissipative environment. With increase of the coupling of the interaction coordinate to the environment and, thus, of the corresponding damping rate of the vibrational quanta, the results of the numerical calculations display a change from the coherent to the incoherent transfer regime. In contrast to the case of small values of the damping, the transfer dynamics become independent of the number o…
Multiple scattering theory for non-local and multichannel potentials.
2012
International audience; Methodological advances in multiple scattering theory (MST) in both wave and Green's function versions are reported for the calculation of electronic ground and excited state properties of condensed matter systems with an emphasis on core-level photoemission and absorption spectra. Full-potential MST is reviewed and extended to non-local potentials. Multichannel MST is reformulated in terms of the multichannel density matrix whereby strong electron correlation of atomic multiplet type can be accounted for in both ground and excited states.
Oscillator Strengths of Electronic Excitations with Response Theory using Phase Including Natural Orbital Functionals
2013
The key characteristics of electronic excitations of many-electron systems, the excitation energies ωα and the oscillator strengths fα, can be obtained from linear response theory. In one-electron models and within the adiabatic approximation, the zeros of the inverse response matrix, which occur at the excitation energies, can be obtained from a simple diagonalization. Particular cases are the eigenvalue equations of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), time-dependent density matrix functional theory, and the recently developed phase-including natural orbital (PINO) functional theory. In this paper, an expression for the oscillator strengths fα of the electronic excitations is…
A survey of dentists' practice in the restoration of the shortened dental arch.
2010
Objectives: The aim of this survey was to determine how a sample of dentists working in general dental practice in the UK sought to restore the mouths of patients who had shortened dental arches (SDAs). Study design: A survey was conducted over a period of six months on four commercial dental laboratories. Cases of SDAs comprising the anterior teeth and 2 to 4 premolars were examined; dental prescriptions were scrutinized and a special data collection form was completed accordingly. Results: A total of 140 SDA cases were examined. Most of these cases were for mandibular SDAs (88.6%). Of the recorded SDA cases, 67.2% were restored by cobalt-chromium based removable partial dentures (RPD); 25…
Charged Bis-Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes with Carbene-Based Ancillary Ligands
2013
Charged cydometalated (CN) iridium(III) complexes with carbene-based ancillary ligands are a promising family of deep-blue phosphorescent compounds. Their emission properties are controlled primarily by the main CN ligands, in contrast to the classical design of charged complexes where NN ancillary ligands with low-energy pi* orbitals, such as 2,2'-bipyridine, are generally used for this purpose. Herein we report two series of charged iridium complexes with various carbene-based ancillary ligands. In the first series the CAN ligand is 2-phenylpyridine, whereas in the second one it is 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-pyridine. One biscarbene (:CC:) and four different pyridine carbene (NC:) chelators a…
Dynamic chemical devices: photoinduced electron transfer and its ion-triggered switching in nanomechanical butterfly-type bis(porphyrin)terpyridines.
2005
A series of butterfly-type molecular constructs has been prepared in good yield by using a double Stille coupling synthetic protocol. They are composed of a terpyridine (terpy) scaffold and two wings composed of appended porphyrins that are capable of switching from an extended W geometry to a compact U geometry upon cation coordination of the terpy unit. The porphyrin moieties exist in the constructs either as free bases or they can be sequentially metallated, thus giving rise to wings of different "colours". Stationary and time-resolved emission studies of the HZn, ZnAu and Zn2Au constructs show that the electronic properties are strongly dependent on the geometry. In the extended W confo…
Remote Modification of Bidentate Phosphane Ligands Controlling the Photonic Properties in Their Complexes: Enhanced Performance of [Cu(RN‐xantphos)(N…
2020
A series of copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu(HN-xantphos)(N^N)][PF6] and [Cu(BnN-xantphos)(N^N)][PF6], in which N^N = bpy, Mebpy and Me2bpy, HN-xantphos = 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)-10H-phenoxazine and BnN-xantphos = 10-benzyl-4,6-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)-10H-phenoxazine is described. The single crystal structures of [Cu(HN-xantphos)(Mebpy)][PF6] and [Cu(BnN-xantphos)(Me2bpy)][PF6] confirm the presence of N^N and P^P chelating ligands with the copper(I) atoms in distorted coordination environments. Solution electrochemical and photophysical properties of the BnN-xantphos-containing compounds (for which the highest-occupied molecular orbital is located on the phenoxazine moiety) are repor…
Haiti has emerged as a factor of regional instability that led to its consideration by the United Nations Security Council as a threat to peace …
White-light phosphorescence emission from a single molecule: application to OLED.
2009
A simple mononuclear cyclometallated iridium(III) complex exhibits white photo- and electro- luminescence in the wavelength range from 440 to 800 nm, which originates from a single emitting excited state of mixed character.
