Inherited factor VII (FVII) deficiency is the most common of the rare autosomal recessive bleeding disorders (RBD), with an estimated prevalence of 1 per 300,000 in European countries.1,2 It is likely that the prevalence is higher in those countries where consanguineous marriages are frequent. We here report STER study results on 112 evaluable enrolled cases

Parenting Styles and Children’s Emotional Development during the First Grade: The Moderating Role of Child Temperament

2015

This study investigated the associations between parenting styles (affection, behavioral control, and psychological control) and children’s emotional development (emotion expression) during the first grade of primary school, and the moderating role of children’s temperament (easy, difficult, and inhibited) in these associations. Mothers and fathers of 152 children responded to a questionnaire concerning their parenting styles and their child’s temperament at the beginning of their child’s first grade (Time 1). They also filled in a structured diary questionnaire concerning their child’s negative and positive emotions over seven successive days (diary) at the beginning (Time 1) and at the en…

A pseudo-Jahn–Teller model of the photochromic effect in sodium nitroprusside

2003

Abstract A new model for the photochromic effect in sodium nitroprusside Na2[Fe(CN)5(NO)]·2H2O based on the concept of the pseudo-Jahn–Teller effect is proposed. The model takes into account the electron transfer from the Fe2+ ion to the π* orbitals of the NO-ligand as well as the vibronic mixing of three electronic states of the Fe NO fragment through the non-symmetric and full-symmetric modes. The problem is solved within the adiabatic approximation. Under certain conditions the lower sheet of the adiabatic potential is shown to possess three minima with the increasing energies that correspond to the N-bound, sideways bound and O-bound NO group. The barriers between the minima are estimat…

Fluoreszenz‐Untersuchungen an styrylsubstituierten Benzolen

1986

Investigations on the Fluorescence of Styryl-substituted Benzenes Fluorescence decay measurements of the stilbene-like compounds 1 – 4 demonstrate that the average lifetimes of these molecules in the electronically excited singlet state are about 102 tim…

Molecular Multi‐Wavelength Optical Anion Sensors

2010

Polychromatic fingerprinting of simple anions (halides, oxo anions) is achieved by employing neutral and charged multicolor fluorescent probes based on ferrocene-spaced dansyl and naphthyl groups (1/1 + ; 2/2 + ). The conformation of the neutral double dye sensor 2 has been elucidated by NMR spectroscopic techniques (in solution), by X-ray crystallography (solid state) and by DFT calculations (gas phase). The double-dye receptors 2/2 + exhibit specific emission responses in the presence of anions X- when excited at the absorption maxima of the dyes (fingerprint).

Effect of free rotation in polypyridinic ligands of Ru(ii) complexes applied in light-emitting electrochemical cells

2013

In the present work we report the synthesis and the electrochemical, photoluminescent and electroluminescent properties of two new Ru(II) complexes described by the general formula [Ru(phen)2X](2+), where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline. The X ligand consists of a 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) unit substituted with two phenyl rings connected to the bpy core through a saturated (Lhydro = 4,4'-diphenylethyl-2,2'-bipyridine) or a conjugated (LH = 4,4'-bis(α-styrene)-2,2'-bipyridine) carbon-carbon bridge. The photoluminescent spectra indicate that, both in solution and solid state, the complex bearing the aliphatic substitution bridges exhibits a higher quantum yield and a longer excited state lifetime tha…

Identifying lifetime as one of the key parameters responsible for the low brightness of lanthanide-based OLEDs.

2021

OLEDs based on lanthanide complexes have decisive optical advantages but are hampered by low brightness. Despite the efforts to optimize several parameters such as quantum yield and charge carrier mobility, there seems to be another key parameter that hinders their performances. Experimental data are therefore collected for mixed-ligand europium complexes with bathophenanthroline and different classes of anionic ligands and screened to identify the key parameter responsible for this situation, which turns out to be the long lifetime of their excited states. A broad literature search supports this conclusion, showing that lanthanide complexes are inferior to other classes of OLED emitters of…

Near-UV to red-emitting charged bis-cyclometallated iridium(iii) complexes for light-emitting electrochemical cells

2011

Herein we report a series of charged iridium complexes emitting from near-UV to red using carbene-based N^C: ancillary ligands. Synthesis, photophysical and electrochemical properties of this series are described in detail together with X-ray crystal structures. Density Functional Theory calculations show that the emission originates from the cyclometallated main ligand, in contrast to commonly designed charged complexes using bidentate N^N ancillary ligands, where the emission originates from the ancillary N^N ligand. The radiative process of this series of compounds is characterized by relatively low photoluminescence quantum yields in solution that is ascribed to non-radiative deactivati…

Spin Crossover – Quo Vadis?

2013

This retrospective essay is an attempt to span the bridge over eight decades of research on spin crossover (SCO), one of the most fascinating dynamic electron structure phenomena of inorganic coordination chemistry. The occurrence of SCO compounds of 3d transition metal ions and their characterization regarding magnetic, optical, vibrational, structural, and thermodynamic properties are briefly addressed. Selected case studies of chemical influences and physical effects (pressure, magnetic field, light) on SCO behavior are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the importance of Mossbauer spectroscopy in SCO studies. Light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) and related photoph…
