On i-topological spaces: generalization of the concept of a topological space via ideals
2006
[EN] The aim of this paper is to generalize the structure of a topological space, preserving its certain topological properties. The main idea is to consider the union and intersection of sets modulo “small” sets which are defined via ideals. Developing the concept of an i-topological space and studying structures with compatible ideals, we are concerned to clarify the necessary and sufficient conditions for a new space to be homeomorphic, in some certain sense, to a topological space.
Striving at partnership: parent–practitioner relationships in Finnish early educators' talk
2010
ABSTRACT In Finnish early childhood education and care, partnership has been introduced as a general approach in the parent–practitioner collaboration. Based on qualitative interviews with practitioners, the article studies, from a social constructionist and discourse analytic perspective, whether partnership is actualised in parent–practitioner relationship and how it is done. The results show that the ideas about parent–practitioner collaboration are not coherent. In the vertical frame the collaboration is considered as a hierarchical relationship but in the horizontal frame, which reflects the partnership approach, parallel expertise and proximity are emphasised. However, the ideal of pa…
Municipalities’ Decision to Care: At Home or in a Nursing Home
2020
AbstractAn almost ideal demand system for long-term care is estimated using data from Norway, where the split of long-term care between home care and care in nursing homes is determined by municipalities. Previous literature has barely addressed what determines municipalities’ or other organizations’ allocations of resources to the sub-sectors of long-term care. The results show that home care is a luxury, while nursing home care is a necessity with respect to total expenditures on long-term care. Municipalities respond to high unit costs for home care by reducing that type of care. Municipalities are highly responsive to variations in the need for the two types of care and seem to provide …
Enhanced flexible algorithm for the optimization of slot filling factors in electrical machines †
2020
The continuous development in the field of industrial automation and electric mobility has led to the need for more efficient electrical machines with a high power density. The improvement of electrical machines’ slot filling factors is one of the measures to satisfy these requirements. In recent years, this topic has aroused greater interest in the industrial sector, since the evolution of the winding technological manufacturing processes allows an economically sustainable realization of ordered winding arrangements, rather than random ones. Moreover, the manufacture of electrical machines’ windings must be preceded by an accurate design phase in which it is possible to evaluate the maximu…
A model of a linear synchronous motor based on distribution theory
2012
The fundamental idea of this paper is to use the distribution theory to analyze linear machines in order to include in the mathematical model both ideal and non ideal features. This paper shows how distribution theory can be used to establish a mathematical model able to describe both the ordinary working condition of a Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) as well the role of the unavoidable irregularities and non ideal features.
Electromagnetic field fluctuations near a dielectric-vacuum boundary and surface divergences in the ideal conductor limit
2012
We consider the electric and magnetic field fluctuations in the vacuum state in the region external to a half-space filled with a homogeneous non-dissipative dielectric. We discuss an appropriate limit to an ideal metal and concentrate our interest on the renormalized field fluctuations, or equivalently to renormalized electric and magnetic energy densities, in the proximity of the dielectric-vacuum interface. We show that surface divergences of field fluctuations arise at the interface in an appropriate ideal conductor limit, and that our limiting procedure allows to discuss in detail their structure. Field fluctuations close to the surface can be investigated through the retarded Casimir-…
An electromagnetic generator for MAGLEV transportation systems
2015
The fundamental idea of this paper is to use the distribution theory to analyze linear generators in order to include in the mathematical model both ideal a non ideal features. This paper shows how the use of distribution theory can be used in order to establish a mathematical model able to describe both the ordinary working condition of a linear generator for MAGLEV systems as well the role of the unavoidable irregularities and non-ideal features.
A Study on Entrepreneurship at the University of Valencia
2016
In the last few decades, there has been growing interest in the so-called third mission of universities, one of which, the question of entrepreneurship, will be highlighted in this paper. Hence, universities have been configured as institutions to proactively motivate there alumnae, and there, students will find an ideal environment in which to familiarize themselves with the skills and expertise that entrepreneurs require. Furthermore, universities provide advisory services as well as technical support, which are essential elements of sowing the seed of business start-ups. This chapter sets out, from a qualitative perspective, the policies, strategies and actions undertaken by the Universi…
Erodibility prioritization of sub-watersheds using morphometric parameters analysis and its mapping: A comparison among TOPSIS, VIKOR, SAW, and CF mu…
2018
Soil erosion, every year imposes extensive damages to human beings by means of reducing soil productivity and filling reservoirs from sedimentation in Ghaemshahr Basin in Mazandaran Province, (Iran); therefore, identifying prone areas to soil erosion for preventive measures is essential in this basin. In this research, erodibility prioritization of sub-watersheds of Ghaemshahr Basin has done using morphometric parameters analysis and different multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) models such as simple additive weighing (SAW), VlseKriterijumska optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), and compound factor (CF). For t…
The Eternal Return of Politics
2003
Politics of Historical Signs In his text The Contest of Faculties, Immanuel Kant makes an attempt to answer the question "Is the human race continually improving?" He identifies such an attempt as belonging to a history of future times. Nevertheless, according to Kant, such a history must start from some sort of experience. He reasons that "[w]e must, therefore, search for an event which would indicate that such a cause exists and that it is causally active within the human race, irrespective of the time at which it might actually operate; and it would have to be a cause which allowed us to conclude, as an inevitable consequence of its operation, that mankind is improving."
