Specht property for some varieties of Jordan algebras of almost polynomial growth
2019
Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic zero. In [25] it was proved that U J 2 , the Jordan algebra of 2 × 2 upper triangular matrices, can be endowed up to isomorphism with either the trivial grading or three distinct non-trivial Z 2 -gradings or by a Z 2 × Z 2 -grading. In this paper we prove that the variety of Jordan algebras generated by U J 2 endowed with any G-grading has the Specht property, i.e., every T G -ideal containing the graded identities of U J 2 is finitely based. Moreover, we prove an analogue result about the ordinary identities of A 1 , a suitable infinitely generated metabelian Jordan algebra defined in [27] .
Looking for magnetic monopoles at LHC with diphoton events
2012
Magnetic monopoles have been a subject of interest since Dirac established the relation between the existence of monopoles and charge quantization. The intense experimental search carried thus far has not met with success. The Large Hadron Collider is reaching energies never achieved before allowing the search for exotic particles in the TeV mass range. In a continuing effort to discover these rare particles we propose here other ways to detect them. We study the observability of monopoles and monopolium, a monopole-antimonopole bound state, at the Large Hadron Collider in the $\gamma \gamma$ channel for monopole masses in the range 500-1000 GeV. We conclude that LHC is an ideal machine to …
Extractingqˆin event-by-event hydrodynamics and the centrality/energy puzzle
2017
Abstract In our analysis, we combine event-by-event hydrodynamics, within the EKRT formulation, with jet quenching -ASW Quenching Weights- to obtain high- p T R AA for charged particles at RHIC and LHC energies for different centralities. By defining a K -factor that quantifies the departure of q ˆ from an ideal estimate, K = q ˆ / ( 2 ϵ 3 / 4 ) , we fit the single-inclusive experimental data for charged particles. This K -factor is larger at RHIC than at the LHC but, surprisingly, it is almost independent of the centrality of the collision.
Precision Physics in Penning Traps Using the Continuous Stern-Gerlach Effect
2021
Abstract“A single atomic particle forever floating at rest in free space” (H. Dehmelt) would be the ideal object for precision measurements of atomic properties and for tests of fundamental theories. Such an ideal, of course, can ultimately never be achieved. A very close approximation to this ideal is made possible by ion traps, where electromagnetic forces are used to confine charged particles under well-controlled conditions for practically unlimited time. Concurrently, sensitive detection methods have been developed to allow observation of single stored ions. Various cooling methods can be employed to bring the trapped ion nearly to rest. Among different realisations of ion traps we con…
The ideal restructuring of migrant families in the immigration law
2013
The legal configuration of kinship ties in immigration law is governed by a restrictive logic that combines a dependent and nuclear composition with mismatches in the concrete form of managing the distances, the dynamics and the times at origin and destination. The family model in immigration law has an ideal and dominant approach openly excluding other family realities in the social context. Law in an inherent tendency towards the ideal doesn’t allow a legitimate choice between autonomy and individual freedom in order to define or not the family project and own relationships. In this paper I discuss from a critical approach the inconsistencies presented by the current Spanish immigration l…
Theory of the elliptical Penning trap
2008
Abstract An ideal “Elliptical Penning Trap” is an ideal cylindrically symmetric Penning trap with an additional electrostatic quadrupolar potential ∝ κ ( x 2 − y 2 ) . This configuration is here investigated for arbitrary strength κ of the additional potential. Aside from the decoupled axial motion the system is characterized by a generalized cyclotron and a generalized magnetron frequency. While the former depends only weakly on κ , the magnetron frequency decreases rapidly with increasing κ , vanishing at a maximum value κ max which represents the stability limit for the magnetron motion. Magnetron orbits are elliptical, with their numerical excentricity tending toward unity as κ approa…
Utilizzo delle sequenze IDEAL (Iterative DEcomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry And Least-squares estimation) in pazienti con protesi ed …
2011

Simple scheme for extracting work with a single bath
2019
We propose a simple protocol exploiting the thermalization of a storage bipartite system S to extract work from a resource system R. The protocol is based on a recent work definition involving only a single bath. A general description of the protocol is provided without specifying the characteristics of S. We quantify both the extracted work and the ideal efficiency of the process, also giving maximum bounds for them. Then, we apply the protocol to two cases: two interacting qubits and the Rabi model. In both cases, for very strong couplings, an extraction of work comparable with the bare energies of the subsystems of S is obtained and its peak is reached for finite values of the bath tempe…
