Constraints and challenges on learning and construction of identitites at work

This paper analyses and discusses different constraints on workplace learning, vocational development and formation of identity. We ask how the learning and development of vocational identities are related to the various learning constraints and restrictions present in the socio-cultural contexts of the workplace. The study utilizes 20 interviews of industrial designers and nursing staff in Finland. The data on the vocational students was collected with Internet questionnaires (N = 1125) from these two fields; technology and transport, and social services and health care. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, millainen yliopiston akateemisen työntekijän ammatillinen identiteetti on. Ammatillisella identiteetillä tarkoitetaan työntekijän suhtautumista työhönsä, työyhteisöön kuulumisen ja samaistumisen tunteita, työssä tärkeinä pidettyjä asioita, sitoutumista, arvoja, tavoitteita ja ammatillista ihanneidentiteettiä. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan vuoden 1918 työväenperinteessä hahmottuvaa naiskuvaa keskittyen kuolemaa käsitteleviin lauluihin ja runoihin. Aineisto koostuu arkistoaineistosta ja kirjoittajan isoisän sotilasmuistiosta. Punaiset laulut ja runot ovat luokkataistelun aseita ja jo sellaisenaan kiistävää folklorea. This article examines working age Russian-speaking migrants, and their paths in looking for a place in the Finnish work and professional communities. The main goal of this paper is to present a recently built interview corpus called Corpus of Hungarian School Metalanguage – Interview Corpus (CHSM-IC) and its potential in language ideology studies. In this article, I shall examine how the personal names of the Finnish-speaking population of rural Finland, who themselves were generally unable to write, were written in Swedish equivalents in various documents in the 18th and 19th centuries, and how this influenced the formation of their identities. The advent of laws governing language towards the end of the 19th and in the early 20th century was manifested in official documents in which the authorities gradually started to write personal names in Finnish. Keski-ikäisten identiteetin kehittyminen ja sen yhteydet elämäntapahtumiin

Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin keski-ikäisten identiteetin kehittymistä, eli sen pysyvyyttä tai muutosta sekä elämäntapahtumien yhteyttä niihin. Aineistona käytettiin suomalaista Lapsesta aikuiseksi –pitkittäistutkimusta: 42 ja 50-vuotiaiden identiteettihaastattelua (n=216–243) ja 50-vuotiaiden elämänhistorian kalenteria (n=274). Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys oli Marcian identiteettiteoria, joka rakentuu neljästä identiteettiluokasta: selkiintymättömästä, omaksutusta, etsivästä ja saavutetusta.
