Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, miten alakouluikäiset oppilaat luovat merkityksiä etunimelleen ja lempinimelleen sekä rakentavat identiteettiään käsitellessään nimeään. Nimen ja identiteetin merkityksellinen yhteys on havaittu aiemmassa kirjallisuudessa; aihe on kuitenkin saanut verrattain vähän huomiota aiemmissa suomalaisissa tutkimuksissa. Kahdeksantoista 6. luokan oppilasta osallistui tiedon tuottamiseen. Osallistujat valmistivat portfolion ja jälkikäteen 12 heistä osallistui puolistrukturoituun haastatteluun. The study aimed at investigating how different young people going through the post-high school transition set, monitor, pursue, and renegotiate career goals in real-time and in everyday life circumstances. A theoretically driven proposition supported the conceptualization of career goals as complex dynamic systems and guided the examination and description of the moment-to-moment processes shaping the (re)construction of career goals. Because of the dynamic history of Silesia and the related heterogeneity of its population, the problem of national identity in this region was and still is a very sensitive issue. Opettajaidentiteetti on tutkimusaiheena varsin ajankohtainen ja viime vuosina huomiota on aiempaa enemmän alettu kiinnittää myös opettajaopiskelijoiden ammatti-identiteettiin, sillä tämän rakennusprosessin osatekijät vaikuttavat varsin eri tavoin lopulliseen identiteettiin. Aiempien tutkimusten pohjalta voidaan huomata, että opettajaidentiteetin muodostumisprosessissa on useita eri osatekijöitä, jotka tässä tutkielmassa on jaettu kahteen faktoriryhmään: henkilökohtaisiin ja opettajankoulutuksellisiin faktoreihin.
