On the graded identities and cocharacters of the algebra of 3×3 matrices
2004
Abstract Let M2,1(F) be the algebra of 3×3 matrices over an algebraically closed field F of characteristic zero with non-trivial Z 2 -grading. We study the graded identities of this algebra through the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group Z 2 ∼S n . After splitting the space of multilinear polynomial identities into the sum of irreducibles under the Z 2 ∼S n -action, we determine all the irreducible Z 2 ∼S n -characters appearing in this decomposition with non-zero multiplicity. We then apply this result in order to study the graded cocharacter of the Grassmann envelope of M2,1(F). Finally, using the representation theory of the general linear group, we determine all the grade…
Entangled into Histories or the Narrative Grounds of Multiple Realities
2013
What is the relation between the imaginary and the real constituting our paramount reality? The article approaches the cleavage between fiction and facts by interrogating the genesis of meaning as this genesis is brought about by fictitious works of memory and commemoration. Narrative structures prove to be the intersubjective ground for comprehensive action insofar narration mediates between past and future, and thus gives way to appresent the non-present in collective actions. Further on, narratively we are bound to life world and are indebted to it with an ethical strain of our Self as we gain our identity exactly by narration.

Pizkunde : los «renacimientos» de la lengua vasca
2018
Landscape 100: How Finland, Estonia and Latvia Used Landscape in Celebrating their Centenary Anniversaries
2019
Abstract In the aftermath of what was then the Great War several European countries like Finland, Estonia and Latvia gained independence, marking their centenary jubilees 2017–2018. This paper observes how landscapes were used in anniversary celebrations and what historical themes were foregrounded and which omitted, revealing how collective historical commemoration in landscape enacts within national identity framework depending also on how landscape is understood in each respective country.

Educación superior femenina y nuevas conformaciones identitarias: Juventud Universitaria Femenina (1919-1930)
2017
This article analyses the way the Juventud Universitaria Femenina (JUF) was set up in 1920, just a few years after women were allowed to take higher studies in Spain, with the main aims of building and giving meanings to the new identity of "female university students ".In a social setting in which some tinycracks were being made in the model of household femininity, the JUF disseminated the discourse and action taken by these intellectually trained professional women who, from 1928, extended their social-political participation, also demanding equal rightsfor women.By forming linguistic structures and with new life experience and practices, this was how the JUF trained a minority sector of …
Alan Moore's America: The Liberal Individual and American Identities in Watchmen
2011
core is an ensemble of diverse characters that explores fundamental issues for American national identity during the second half of the twentieth century. Moore’s work performs thi st ask in two ways, fi rstly, by presenting a group of diverse ideologically contingent American figures in the individual characters, and secondly, by highlighting a sacrosanct element of America’s image of itself, the primacy of the ‘‘liberal individual’’ not just as an American type but as the naturalized core of the national ethos. This article maps this subject identity into a national identity such as that typified in Benedict Anderson’s Imagined Communities ,as mall-n nationalism as a successor to kinship …
