The research topic of this dissertation is the press of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) from the March revolution of 1917 in Russia to the end of the Finnish Civil War in the spring of 1918. Under research are 16 party papers, which, however, were not owned by the party, and therefore neither under its guidance nor control. The papers' owners, local working class organizations, elected the editors-in-chief, who often held central posts in the party. In this way they could use their relatively independent positions to further their political views in their editorials. The impact of ideological positions and personal attributes of candidates in intraparty competition: A study under the Swiss open‐listPRSystem

Intraparty preference voting systems offer different incentives for candidates to cultivate a personal vote, but little is known about how the candidates' policy positions affect their elec-toral success in intraparty competition. This article analyses the effect of candidates' ideological positions and personal attributes on their preference vote share in the 2015 and 2019 Swiss Lower House elections. We used candidate survey data combined with official election statistics. Our findings demon-strate that the ideological distance between candidates' posi-tions and their party's median position is of minor importance for their electoral success when compared to their personal attributes. Conceptual silencing as a rhetorical tool. A cognitive lexical semantics study of the lexical item Europe

Taking a cognitive lexical semantics perspective, the article introduces the concept of conceptual silencing as a rhetorical tool. Understood as a process of conceptual dissolution of meaning to offer a more coarse-grained sense of an expression, conceptual silencing is demonstrated to have a potential rhetorical value in that it allows for more opaque reproduction of ideology. From a cognitive linguistic standpoint, the process of conceptual silencing hinges upon a polysemous nature of a lexical item and boils down to triggering a given sense of a given lexical item in a given context. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat Natalja Poklonskajan, Krimin tasavallan entisen syyttäjän, representaatiot ja identiteetit venäläisessä sanomalehdissä. Natalja Poklonskaja nimitettiin Krimin tasavallan korkeimmaksi syyttäjäksi keväällä 2014 sen jälkeen, kun Venäjä oli liittänyt Krimin itseensä. Poklonskajasta kirjoitettiin ensimmäisen syyttäjävuoden aikana lukuisia lehtijuttuja, jotka keskittyivät hänen ulkonäköönsä ja hän sai lempinimen ”suloinen syyttäjä”. Artikkelissa käsitellään yhteiskuntatieteiden tutkimusmetodologiassa esiintyvää, yhteiskunnallishistoriallisten rakenteiden ja yksilön kokemusten välistä rakennetta. Se kiinnittyy hallinnan ja ideologioiden kriittisen tutkimuksen metodologiaan. Ongelmakentän tarkentamiseksi analysoidaan kahden tutkimusperinteen tarjoamia välineitä rakenteen ja kokemuksen yhdistämiseen tutkimusmetodiikassa. Perinteet ovat hallinnan analytiikka ja psykoanalyyttinen, yksilöllisiä kokemuksia painottava tutkimustraditio.
