A conventional color imaging system provides high resolution spatial information and low resolution spectral data. In contrast, a multispectral imaging system is able to provide both the spectral and spatial information of a scene in high resolution. Study of ambient light influence for three-dimensional scanners based on structured light

Ambient light in a scene can introduce errors into range data from most commercial three-dimensional range scanners, particularly scanners that are based on projected patterns and structured lighting. We study the effects of ambient light on a specific commercial scanner. We further present a method for characterizing the range accuracy as a function of ambient light distortions. Light transmission of the human lens and its relation with aging

Purpose To determine the visible light transmission of the human crystalline lens of persons of different ages, using both solar and incandescent illumination. Methods The spectral transmission of lens was measured by using the Perkin-Elmer 800 UV/VIS spectrophotometer. Absence of lightness constancy as a deficit of monochromatic vision

Dark-adapted human subjects arranged a collection of colored papers in a sequence according to their lightness. The sequence of the papers (which appeared gray to the subjects) varied under different illuminant spectra. These variations could be predicted quantitatively from the radiometric data and human scotopic spectral sensitivity. By substitution of natural daylight spectra in the computation it was shown that monochromats cannot perceive lightness reliably under the changing illuminant spectra of our planet. A Neural Network-Based Algorithm for 3D Multispectral Scanning Applied to Multimedia

We describe a new stereoscopic system based on a multispectral camera and an LCD-Projector. The novel concept we want to show consists in the use of multispectral information for 3D-scenes reconstruction. Each 3D point is linked to a curve representing the spectral reflectance. Asymmetric colour matching: memory matching versus simultaneous matching

We have compared corresponding pairs obtained by simultaneous matching (haploscopic matching) and by memory matching (after 10 min) using 34 reference tests selected from the Munsell Atlas (glossy), belonging to the four main hues 5Y, 5G, 5PB, and 5RP. These colours lie very close to the F1 and F2 axes in the SVF space, where we have analyzed our results. Illuminants D65 and A were used as reference and matching illuminants, respectively. Our results show for both kinds of matching a tendency to select more colourful colours than the original ones, with significant differences between matching and test colours, whereas hue does not seem to follow a definite pattern. What Is the Color of Milk and Dairy Products and How Is It Measured?

Exactly six-hundred (600) scientific articles that report milk and milk products’ color results in scientific journals in the last couple of decades were reviewed. Thereof, the greatest part of the articles derived from Europe (36.3%) and Asia (29.5%). The greatest share of researchers used Minolta colorimeters (58.8%), while 26.3% of them used Hunter devices. Most reports were on cheese (31.0%) followed by fermented products (21.2%). Moreover, the highest number of papers reported color data of milk and milk products made from cow’s milk (44.81%). Color discrimination under mesopic conditions in cats and humans

The ability to discriminate colors under various levels of mesopic illumination was studied in three cats using colored papers as stimuli and with a computer controlled training schedule. Discrimination based on brightness differences was prevented using a new method in which illuminant color was varied. The luminance threshold for color discrimination in cats was found to be 0.5 cd/m2, close to the cone threshold reported by others from ganglion cell recordings. The same experiment was carried out with human subjects and revealed a luminance threshold of 0.00042 cd/m2 for color discrimination.
