Two View Line-Based Motion and Structure Estimation for Planar Scenes

We present an algorithm for reconstruction of piece-wise planar scenes from only two views and based on minimum line correspondences. We first recover camera rotation by matching vanishing points based on the methods already exist in the literature and then recover the camera translation by searching among a family of hypothesized planes passing through one line. Unlike algorithms based on line segments, the presented algorithm does not require an overlap between two line segments or more that one line correspon- dence across more than two views to recover the translation and achieves the goal by exploiting photometric constraints of the surface around the line. Medial surfaces are well-known and interesting surface skeletons. As such, they can describe the topology and the geometry of a 3D closed object. The link between an object and its medial surface is also intuitively understood by people. We want to exploit such skeletons to use them in applications like shape creation and shape deformation. Geometric Properties of the 3D Spine Curve

Through a 3D reconstruction of the human back surface using structured light techniques, we study the properties of spine curve by means of a set of parameters related to measures commonly applied in medicine. In this way, descriptors for measuring the abnormalities in the projections of the front and sagittal planes can be computed. We build the spine curve in 3D and analyse the behaviour of the Frenet frame when along the curve the deformation processes in idiophatic scoliosis appear.

Registration of moving surfaces by means of one-shot laser projection

The acquisition of three-dimensional models of a given surface is a very interesting subject in computer vision. Most of techniques are based on the use of laser range finders coupled to a mechanical system that scans the surface. These techniques lacks of accuracy in the presence of vibrations or non-controlled surface motion because of the misalignments between the acquired images. In this paper, we propose a new one-shot pattern which benefits from the use of registration techniques to recover a whole surface in the presence of non-controlled motion.

MULTIRESOLUTION ANALYSIS FOR IRREGULAR MESHES WITH APPEARANCE ATTRIBUTES

We present a new multiresolution analysis framework based on the lifting scheme for irregular meshes with attributes. We introduce a surface prediction opera- tor to compute the detail coefficients for the geometry and the attributes of the model. Attribute analysis gives appearance information to complete the geomet- rical analysis of the model.We present an application to adaptive visualization and some experimental results to show the efficiency of our framework.

Comparison of leaf surface roughness analysis methods by sensitivity to noise analysis

International audience; Surface roughness is of great interest in agricultural spraying because it is used to characterise leaf surface wettability to predict the behaviour of droplets on a leaf surface. In recent years, the use of texture analysis to estimate surface roughness has emerged. In this paper we propose to estimate leaf surface roughness by using an optimisation of the Generalized Fourier Descriptors method. This approach is then compared with two other standard methods in the literature, one based on grey level intensity variation and the other on wavelet decomposition. Scanning from heating: 3D shape estimation of transparent objects from local surface heating.

Today, with quality becoming increasingly important, each product requires three-dimensional in-line quality control. On the other hand, the 3D reconstruction of transparent objects is a very difficult problem in computer vision due to transparency and specularity of the surface. This paper proposes a new method, called Scanning From Heating (SFH), to determine the surface shape of transparent objects using laser surface heating and thermal imaging. Furthermore, the application to transparent glass is discussed and results on different surface shapes are presented.

Such images can be used to generate views of the scene by projecting the spherical surface onto planes tangent to the sphere. Boolean operations with implicit and parametric representation of primitives using R-functions

We present a new and efficient algorithm to accurately polygonize an implicit surface generated by multiple Boolean operations with globally deformed primitives. Our algorithm is special in the sense that it can be applied to objects with both an implicit and a parametric representation, such as superquadrics, supershapes, and Dupin cyclides. The input is a constructive solid geometry tree (CSG tree) that contains the Boolean operations, the parameters of the primitives, and the global deformations.
