A computational framework for coating fatigue analysis of wind turbine blades due to rain erosion

Author's accepted manuscript The rain-induced fatigue damage in the wind turbine blade coating has attracted increasing attention owing to significant repair and maintenance costs. The present paper develops an improved computational framework for analyzing the wind turbine blade coating fatigue induced by rain erosion. The paper first presents an extended stochastic rain field simulation model that considers different raindrop shapes (spherical, flat, and spindle), raindrop sizes, impact angles, and impact speeds. It has become common practice for governments and municipalities around the world to bid for the right to host a major sporting event. Prior to embarking on the bidding process, politicians attempt to determine whether such an event will be of value to their municipality; and often focus on the estimated economic consequences of hosting such an event. Frequently, studies are commissioned to predict the event's economic value. However, these studies often miscalculate the potential impact of sport event visitors as consumers. This article analyses the impact of classical tradition on the artistic production of Gregorio Prieto (1897-1992), painter par excellence of the Generation of 1927. It will be discovered how this influence, far from becoming a conservative reference, would constitute an incentive for his entailment with the avant-garde, especially with surrealism. Although the classic trace is found with more intensity in the creations produced during his Roman years, between 1928 and 1929, when he also made important trips to Sicily and Greece, Greece and Rome would nevertheless continue to be constitutive of his aesthetic experience throughout his later and extensive career.

Every part of the human body is subject to aging, including the eye. Increased prevalence of dry eye disease with age is widely acknowledged: aging threatens ocular surface homeostasis, altering the normal functioning of the lacrimal functional unit and potentially leading to signs and symptoms of dry eye. The Effect of Impact Pressure on Positron Lifetime in Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (PE-UHMW)Chirulen®1120

The paper presents the results of investigations of the effect of impact pressure (in the range of both elastic and plastic deformations) on the parameters of the positron lifetime spectra in PE-UMHW polymer known under the trade mark Chirulen1120. The changes in the long-living component of the positron lifetime spectrum, connected with the annihilation of o-Ps in the pick-off process, are analyzed in dependence on the impact energy. The impact duration in the Charpy’s tests depending on the impact energy was measured, too. The dependencies of the radius of the volume of empty spaces in which the positronium annihilates, on the impact pressure were determined applying the Eldrup-Tao model.
