Physical activity (PA) and body mass index (BMI) are consistently associated with motor coordination (MC) in children. However, we know very little how BMI in early childhood associates with MC later in childhood. This study investigated associations between BMI in early childhood and BMI, PA, and MC in middle childhood. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin esimiesten työkyvyn ja sen osa-alueiden pysyvyyttä ja muutosta 10 vuoden seuranta-aikana (vuosina 1996-2006). Esimiesten työkykyä arvioitiin Työterveyslaitoksen kehittämän työkykyindeksin ja sen osa-alueiden (oma arvio työkyvystä, oma arvio työkyvystä suhteessa työn vaatimuksiin, lääkärin toteamat sairaudet, sairauksien haitta työssä, sairaus-poissaolot, arvio työkyvystä kahden vuoden kuluttua ja psyykkiset voimavarat) avulla. Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας, ήταν να εξετάσει πώς διαφοροποιείται η εικόνα του σώματος και η ικανοποίηση της από αυτήν ανάλογα με το φύλο και την ηλικία, αλλά και πώς συνδέεται με τη φυσική δραστηριότητα και το Δείκτη Μάζας Σώματος σε εφήβους. Το δείγμα ήταν 496 έφηβοι (226 αγόρια και 270 κορίτσια) ηλικίας 13 έως 17 ετών, μαθητές από τη Β’ Γυμνασίου έως και τη Β’ Λυκείου επαρχιακών πόλεων της Ελλάδας. As a secondary aim, we assessed whether possible differences in physical fitness between students classified as NWO and normal weight non-obese (NWNO) were mediated by skeletal muscles mass. Alusveden hapetuksen vaikutus pienten humusjärvien syvännepohjaeläimistön tilaan

Järvien vedenlaatua ja ekologista tilaa voidaan pyrkiä parantamaan erilaisilla kunnostusmenetelmillä, joista alusveden hapetus on yksi käytetyimmistä. Alusvettä hapetetaan kierrättämällä päällysvettä pohjanläheisyyteen, ja menetelmän avulla pyritään ehkäisemään järven sisäistä kuormitusta. Hapetus kuitenkin nostaa alusveden lämpötilaa ja estää järven luontaisen kerrostumisen. Tieteellisiä tutkimuksia hapetuksen pitkäaikaisista vaikutuksista järvien tilaan on niukasti, vaikka hapetus on ollut suosittu kunnostusmenetelmä jo 1970-luvulta lähtien.
