Local indicators of spatio-temporal association on linear networks

In this work, we extend the Local Indicators of Spatio-Temporal Association (LISTA) functions (Siino et al. 2018) to the non-Euclidean space of linear networks. We introduce the local version of some inhomogeneous second-order statistics for spatio-temporal point processes on linear networks (Morandi and Mateu, 2019), namely the K-function and the pair correlation function. Following the work of Adelfio et al. (2019) for the Euclidean case, we employ the proposed LISTA functions to assess the goodness-of-fit of different spatio-temporal models fitted to point patterns occurring on linear networks. Indeed, the peculiar lack of homogeneity in a network discourages the usage of traditional spa…

Evaluation and improvement of the quality of the discharge prescription in Cystic Fibrosis children hospitalised for intravenous antibiotic therapy

2017

1.Antecedentes.

2006

This article studies the scope of Polytechnic University of Valencia through the analysis of its scientific output since 1973 until 2001 based on the journal articles and conference papers available in the most relevant national and international databases. We analyze its productivity and time layout, according to the kind of document and language, as well as the scientific output by authors and departments, showing those most outstanding regarding productivity. On the other hand, we have researched the distribution and layout of scientific literature, pointing out the most used journals. The results show as the most relevant aspects a wide range of themes covered, the constant annual incre…

Evaluation: between values and indicators

2017

The article discusses the dilemmas associated with the development of evaluation studies in Poland. These studies are for several years establishing their position and entering into a variety of social areas. Along with their dissemination the approaches and models of evaluation used in these areas differentiate. The practice of evaluation involves difficult choices regarding compliance with the idea of these studies, their usefulness and social functions. On the evaluative field appear significant disparities between different areas of evaluation and alternative models that are not always positive image of this field.

Considerations Regarding the Public Budget in Romania

2019

The paper presents the etymology, the legal and economic significance, and the structure of the Romanian budgetary system. At the same time, the evolution of the main indicators from 2006-2018 is presented. It is presented, how the budget flows are generated and used, but also the results obtained in the budget years from the aforementioned period. The paper presents the evolution of macroeconomic indicators, which reflect the level, dynamics and structure of budgetary expenditures and revenues. Mostly the objectives of the paper consist of monitoring the evolution of the general consolidated budget and analysing the way of framing the deficit within the maximum limits allowed during the re…

The relationship between frailty syndrome and quality of life in older patients following acute coronary syndrome

2019

Purpose: Elderly patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) have a high risk of mortality, which is particularly high in the first 30 days. Quality of life (QoL) and risk-benefit assessments are of pivotal importance in the elderly. The objective of this study is to assess the relationship between frailty syndrome (FS) and QoL in patients following acute coronary syndrome (ACS) non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Patients and Methods: The study involved 100 patients (61 men, 39 women, the average age: M ± SD =66.12±10.92 years). The study used standardized research tools: a questionnaire to assess QoL (World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Brief …

Economic policy uncertainty effects for forecasting future real economic activity

2018

Recently introduced measures for Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) included in the data from 1997 - 2016 have a role in forecasting out-of-sample values for the future real economic activity for both the euro area and the UK economies. The inclusion of EPU measures, either for the US, the UK or for overall European economies, improves the forecasting ability of models based on standard financial market information, especially for the period before the 2008 global crisis. However, during and after the crisis period, the slope of the yield curve and excess stock market returns improves the out-of-sample forecast performance the most compared to an AR-benchmark model. Hence, the EPU informatio…

Professional mathematics teacher identity: analysis of reflective narratives from discourses and activities

2012

Published verson of an article in the journal: Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10857-012-9216-1 This article focuses on the methodological use of reflective narratives from discourses and activities of an experienced primary teacher as evidence of her professional identity. The teacher’s reflective narratives emerge from her participation in a 3-year developmental and research project, Learning Communities in Mathematics, conducted at the University of Agder (UiA) in Norway. As background for our study, we firstly present the teacher in action with her sixth-grade pupils in a mathematics lesson, and then analyse sele…

Definition of Water Meter Substitution Plans based on a Composite Indicator

2014

This paper presents a water meter substitution plan based on a composite "Replacement indicator" which was defined and compared with common substitution strategies based on meter age and on run-to-fail approaches. The methodology was applied to one of the 17 sub-networks in which the Palermo city water distribution network (Italy) is divided. The analysis was carried out considering a substitution budget limitation and the results showed that the use of "Replacement indicator" outperform the classical substitution strategies based on meter age because it takes into account some other variables that may affect meter precision and wearing.
