THE IMPACT OF THE INDUSTRIALIZATION PROCESS ON THE OTHERS SECTORS OF THE ROMANIAN ECONOMY.THE DYNAMIC ESTABLISHED BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE (1…

2012

Once obtained its independence, Romania began a vast process of rebuilding its economy on new bases. The main interest was focused on developing a national industry, the industrialization process representing one of the most significant chapters of the Romanian economic history, as well as of the history of the national economic thought. Placing/considering the industry as the center of the economic system came to invalidate the theory of a "signally agrarian Romania", marking the beginnings of a diversification concerning the structure of the Romanian economy. Although the industrialization constituted an unquestionable premise of the modernization of the economy, the Romanian society and …

Collaborative Business Model Innovation Process for Networked Services

2013

This paper presents a process framework for innovating joint business models (co-BM) for multiple companies. Our framework describes the change management that should be carried out in parallel to the rigorous analysis and development of the business model details. With two illustrative cases we show that fruitful co-BM creation process in networks requires both development of the model itself, but also organizational innovation processes including mutual learning and harmonisation of operations. We claim that by understanding this dual process and its key facets might help (1) to coordinate the practical BM creation projects better and (2) to analyse which BM related decisions contribute o…

New economic geography and economic history: a survey of recent contributions through the lens of the Spanish industrialization process

2021

This paper aims to provide a synthesis of a number of articles that over the last few years have explored the industrialization process in Spain from the perspective of the new economic geography (NEG). To this end, we present some of the seminal theoretical papers of the NEG literature from which originated the main theoretical predictions that have been tested through empirical analysis applied to the case of Spain. We also look at those papers on the economic history of Spain that through the use of an economic geography framework have analysed how the location and regional concentration of manufacturing has evolved over the years. Altogether, this paper aims not only to present the dete…

La désindustrialisation comme vecteur de vulnérabilité territoriale

2019

Cultural and Creative Industries Concept – A Historical Perspective

2014

Abstract Innovation and creativity are broadly used terms and Creative Economy concept is present in European and other countries policy documents, including EU policy, UNDP and other international organization strategies. The aim of this article is to establish a better understanding of the principles of Cultural and Creative Industries and the concept of a Creative Economy using historical reasoning from relevant literature. Formal use of the term Creative Industries is quite recent (1994), marking the digital e…

Gender Gaps in Wages and Mortality Rates During Industrialization: The Case of Alcoy, Spain, 1860–1914

2021

What role did women play during industrialization? Interpretations of this key period of our history have been largely based on analyses of male work. In this paper, we offer evidence of the effects of women's involvement in the industrialization process that took place in Alcoy, Spain, over the period 1860-1914. Using data drawn from historical sources, we analyse labour-force participation rates and wage series for women and men in the textile industry and three other sectors of activity (education, health and low-skill services). We then connect the gender pay gaps with life expectancy indicators. Our results suggest that women's contribution to household income might have favoured the f…

Design in education and training

2019

In the last 300 years, industry was the key driver of economic development and social, political, military, cultural and spiritual, which are inconceivable without the contribution of this important sector of the economy of any country.
