Lepton-hadron correlations to O(αs2) in (2+1) jet production processes at hera
1992
Abstract We give a qualitative account of some of the technical features that go into the calculation of the one-loop improved O(αs2) (2+1) jet production rates in deep inelastic scattering which was completed only recently. We present some numerical results on (2+1) jet production with an emphasis on lepton-hadron correlation effects by exhibiting the contribution of the longitudinal structure function.
Measurement of the proton and deuteron structure functions, F2p and F2d, and of the ratio
1997
The muon-proton and muon-deuteron inclusive deep inelastic scattering cross sections were measured in the kinematic range 0.002 < x < 0.60 and 0.5 < Q(2) < 75 GeV2 at incident muon energies of 90, 120, 200 and 280 GeV. These results are based on the full data set collected by the New Muon Collaboration, including the data taken with a small angle trigger. The extracted values of the structure functions F-2(p) and F-2(d) are in good agreement with those from other experiments. The data cover a sufficient range of y to allow the determination of the ratio of the longitudinally to transversely polarised virtual photon absorption cross sections, R = sigma(L)/sigma(T), for 0.002 < x < 0.12. The …
Deuteron Compton Scattering
1995
We have calculated deuteron Compton scattering below pion production threshold using different realistic NN potential models and explicit meson exchange current contributions. The gauge conditions for the current and two photon operators have been exploited extensively, so that our model fulfills the low energy theorems. Rescattering, meson exchange and nucleon substructure contributions are studied and compared with a previous calculation and recent experimental data.
Proton-Deuteron Elastic Scattering for E > 0
1999
We report on the first reliable numerical results for proton-deuteron elastic scattering observables for energies above the deuteron breakup thresh- old, for the Paris potential. The calculations have been performed within the screening and renormalisation approach. The theoretical results are compared with recent experimental data.
Incoherent diffractiveJ/Ψproduction in high-energy nuclear deep-inelastic scattering
2011
We compute cross sections for incoherent diffractive $J/\ensuremath{\Psi}$ production in lepton-nucleus deep-inelastic scattering (DIS). The cross section is proportional to $A$ in the dilute limit and to ${A}^{1/3}$ in the black disk limit, with a large nuclear suppression due to saturation effects. The $t$ dependence of the cross section, if it can be measured accurately enough, is sensitive to the impact parameter profile of the gluons in the nucleus and their fluctuations, a quantity that determines the initial conditions of a relativistic heavy-ion collision. The nuclear suppression in incoherent diffraction shows how the transverse spatial distribution of the gluons in the nucleus gra…
The scattering of 28.5 MeV 3 He particles by 12 C, 20 Ne and 40 A nuclei
1960
Differential cross-sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 28.5 MeV 3 He particles by the nuclei 12 C, 20 Ne and 40 A have been measured by means of a photographic technique. The 12 C ( 3 He, α) reaction was also observed. The elastic scattering distributions have been analyzed in terms of an optical model.
Cluster Structure of9Be from3He+9Be Reaction
2016
The study of inelastic scattering and multi-nucleon transfer reactions was performed by bombarding a 9Be target with a 3He beam at an incident energy of 30 MeV. Angular distributions for 9Be(3He,3He)9Be, 9Be(3He,4He)8Be, 9Be(3He,7Be)5He, 9Be(3He,6Li)6Li and 9Be(3He,7Li)5Li reaction channels were measured. Cross sections for channels leading to unbound 5He g.s ., 5Li g.s . and 8Be systems were obtained from singles measurements where the relationship between the energy and the scattering angle of the observed stable ejectile is constrained by two-body kinematics. Information on the cluster structure of 9Be was obtained from the transfer channels. It was concluded that cluster transfer is an …
Anomalous Behavior of High-Spin States inCm248
1981
The ground-state band of $^{248}\mathrm{Cm}$ has been studied up to spin ${28}^{+}$ and tentatively to ${30}^{+}$ by observing $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays following multiple Coulomb excitation with use of $^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$ ions at 5.3 MeV/u. A smooth, gradual increase in the effective moment of inertia is seen at lower spin with an anomalous forward bend above spin ${22}^{+}$. Calculations are presented which indicate that this behavior including the forward bend can be understood in terms of the alignment of single-particle angular momenta along the rotation axis.
Photoneutron cross sections for unstable neutron-rich oxygen isotopes.
2000
The dipole response of stable and unstable neutron-rich oxygen nuclei of masses A = 17 to A = 22 has been investigated experimentally utilizing electromagnetic excitation in heavy-ion collisions at beam energies about 600 MeV/nucleon. A kinematically complete measurement of the neutron decay channel in inelastic scattering of the secondary beam projectiles from a Pb target was performed. Differential electromagnetic excitation cross sections d sigma/dE were derived up to 30 MeV excitation energy. In contrast to stable nuclei, the deduced dipole strength distribution appears to be strongly fragmented and systematically exhibits a considerable fraction of low-lying strength.
Multipole strength distributions and form factors forE1,E2/E0, andE3 fromU238(e,e’f) coincidence experiments
1987
A model-independent multipole analysis of $^{238}\mathrm{U}$(e,e'f) coincidence data, taken at four momentum transfers (0.2\ensuremath{\le}${q}_{\mathrm{eff}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\le}}0.7}$ ${\mathrm{fm}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$; \ensuremath{\omega}=4--22 MeV) yields both E1, E2/E0, and E3 form factors and strength distributions. The E2/E0 strength distribution in the fission channel shows two distinct bumps centered at \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\simeq}10 and 14 MeV, exhausting up to 12 MeV (19\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2)% of the isoscalar E2 sum rule. The extracted form factors can be described within a hydrodynamical model by use of parameters ${c}_{\mathrm{tr}/{c}_{0}=1.2}$ and …
