Search for an excess of events with an identical flavour lepton pair and significant missing transverse momentum in root s=7 TeV proton-proton collis…

2011

Results are presented of a search for supersymmetric particles decaying into final states with significant missing transverse momentum and exactly two identical flavour leptons (e or mu) of opposite charge in sqrt{s}=7 TeV collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. This channel is particularly sensitive to supersymmetric particle cascade decays producing flavour correlated lepton pairs. Flavour uncorrelated backgrounds are subtracted using a sample of opposite flavour lepton pair events. Observation of an excess beyond Standard Model expectations following this subtraction procedure would offer one of the best routes to measuring the masses of supersymmetric particles. In a data sample corres…

Measurement of the parity violating asymmetry in the quasielastic electron-deuteron scattering and improved determination of the magnetic strange for…

2016

A new measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in the electron-deuteron quasielastic scattering for backward angles at $⟨{Q}^{2}⟩=0.224\text{ }\text{ }{(\mathrm{GeV}/c)}^{2}$, obtained in the A4 experiment at the Mainz Microtron accelerator (MAMI) facility, is presented. The measured asymmetry is ${A}_{PV}^{d}=(\ensuremath{-}20.11\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.8{7}_{\mathrm{stat}}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.0{3}_{\mathrm{sys}})\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}6}$. A combination of these data with the proton measurements of the parity-violating asymmetry in the A4 experiment yields a value for the effective isovector axial-vector form facto…

Multigluon Correlations and Evidence of Saturation from Dijet Measurements at an Electron-Ion Collider.

2020

We study inclusive and diffractive dijet production in electron-proton and electron-nucleus collisions within the Color Glass Condensate effective field theory. We compute dijet cross sections differentially in both mean dijet transverse momentum $\mathbf{P}$ and recoil momentum $\mathbf{\Delta}$, as well as the anisotropy in the relative angle between $\mathbf{P}$ and $\mathbf{\Delta}$. We use the nonlinear Gaussian approximation to compute multiparticle correlators for general small $x$ kinematics, employing running coupling Balitsky-Kovchegov evolution to determine the dipole amplitude at small $x$. Our results cover a much larger kinematic range than accessible in previous computations …

Rosenbluth Separation of the π^{0} Electroproduction Cross Section.

2016

We present deeply virtual $\pi^0$ electroproduction cross-section measurements at $x_B$=0.36 and three different $Q^2$--values ranging from 1.5 to 2 GeV$^2$, obtained from experiment E07-007 that ran in the Hall A at Jefferson Lab. The Rosenbluth technique was used to separate the longitudinal and transverse responses. Results demonstrate that the cross section is dominated by its transverse component, and thus is far from the asymptotic limit predicted by perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. An indication of a non-zero longitudinal contribution is provided by the interference term $\sigma_{LT}$ also measured. Results are compared with several models based on the leading twist approach of G…

Zerstörungsfreie Phasenanalyse dünner Oberflächenschichten mittels Konversionselektronen

1987

By use of an appropriate gamma radiation, conversion electrons may be produced by Mossbauer effect also in a depth below the sample surface deeper than the free path for inelastic electron scattering. Because the Mossbauer spectrum of the conversion electrons reflects the local phase composition, the recording of all electrons escaping from the surface allows an integral phase analysis of a layer of some 10–100 nm thickness. If only electrons within a narrow range of energy are recorded, a depth selective phase analysis is possible. The applicability of these two techniques of conversion electron spectroscopy is demonstrated by a few examples concerning oxidation and passivation of steel. C…

Experimental and theoretical study of dense YBO3 and the influence of non-hydrostaticity.

2021

[EN] YBO3 is used in photonics applications as a host for red phosphors due to its desirable chemical stability, high quantum efficiency and luminescence intensity. Despite its fundamental thermodynamic nature, the isothermal bulk modulus of YBO3 has remained a contentious issue due to a lack of comprehensive experimental and theoretical data and its vibrational modes are far from being understood. Here, we present an experimental-theoretical structural and vibrational study of YBO3. From structural data obtained from synchrotron X-ray diffraction data and ab initio calculations, we have determined the YBO3 bulk modulus, isothermal compressibility tensor and pressure-volume (P-V) equation o…

Spin- and phase transition in the spin crossover complex [Fe(ptz)6](BF4)2 studied by nuclear inelastic scattering of synchrotron radiation and by DFT…

2006

Abstract Nuclear inelastic scattering (NIS) spectra of [Fe(ptz) 6 ](BF 4 ) 2 (ptz = 1- n -propyl-tetrazole) have been measured for five phases differing in spin state and crystallographic structure. Different spectral patterns have been found for the low-spin and high-spin phases and are described in terms of normal coordinate analysis of the complex molecule. For both low-spin and high-spin phases the conversion from ordered to disordered phase results in splitting of the observed NIS bands. Packing becomes visible in the NIS spectra via coupling of the Fe–N stretching vibrations with those of the terminal n -propyl groups. The DFT-based normal coordinate analysis also reveals the characte…

LaAg x In1?x

1980

The phonon dispersion of LaAg x In1−x (x=1, 0.89, 0.8) has been studied by inelastic neutron scattering in the cubic high temperature phase. A soft mode behaviour was observed at theM-point. The doubling and the cubic to tetragonal deformation of the elementary cell was observed through the phase transition. The measurements of the elastic constants were extended to 450 K and their magnetic field dependence was investigated.

Excitonic effects in two-LO-phonon resonant Raman scattering.

1993

Abstract The role of electron-hole correlation in resonant Raman scattering by two LO-phonons is analyzed. A theoretical model including excitons belonging to the discrete and continuous spectra as virtual intermediate states in the Raman process and valid for incident energies below and above the gap is developed. For the exciton-phonon coupling the Frohlich Hamiltonian is considered. The most important contribution to the Raman scattering efficiency corresponds to the continuous→discrete→discrete exciton transition, followed by the discrete→discrete→discrete and the continuous→continuous→discrete ones. The model is tested for GaP, where the scattering efficiency data are available around …

Symmetry-species conversion in CD3systems

1993

The rates for symmetry-species conversion of CD3 groups are calculated using a model in which the interaction between the quadrupolar moment of the deuterons with electric-field gradient at the site of the nucleus causes symmetry-changing transitions. Just the same phonons are considered for energy conservation as are used to describe the temperature dependence of inelastic neutron scattering experiments. For the conversion rate, a similar temperature dependence is found as has already been obtained for CH3. For temperatures around the tunnelling energy, a behaviour is predicted for CD3 that is different from the behaviour in protonated systems according to all theories known to the authors…
