Programmed death-1 (PD-1) and Programmed death-1 ligand (PD-L1) regulate immune response. Previous studies associate an immune deregulation in ST-elevation myocardial infarction STEMI. We recruited 100 patients with a first STEMI treated with reperfusion. In all patients PD-1 and PD-L1 expression was studied 24 h post-reperfusion in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), by means of flow cytometry and molecular biology. Microwave response of bulk MgB2 samples of different granularity

The microwave response of three high-density bulk MgB2 samples has been investigated in the linear and nonlinear regimes. The three samples, characterized by different mean size of grains, have been obtained by reactive infiltration of liquid Mg in powdered B preforms. The linear response has been studied by measuring the microwave surface impedance; the nonlinear response by detecting the power radiated by the sample at the second-harmonic frequency of the driving field. Our results suggest that bulk MgB2 prepared by the liquid Mg infiltration technique is particularly promising for manufacturing resonant cavities operating at microwave frequencies.

We have investigated whether osteoprotegerin (OPG) may concur with the soluble terminal complement complex (SC5b-9) to the inflammatory cascade characterizing RA. Methods. Pleocytosis in cerebrospinal fluid and infiltration of the leptomeningeal tissue have been studied after injection of ferritin into the subarachnoid space (SAS) of cats. The most important source of granulocytes in the leptomeninges are the relatively large veins of the pia mater, which have very thin walls. Passing between the lining cells of the pia mater the granulocytes leave the connective tissue space of the pia mater and reach the SAS. As a first step towards modelling the coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical (THMC) behaviour of bentonite, the Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) has been implemented into Numerrin finite element code. This model has been fully coupled with the single phase flow equation for unsaturated soils which models liquid water transport. Suction obtained from solving the flow equation is used as an input for the BBM model and the volumetric deformations from the mechanical analysis are used to update the pore water pressure field.
