Promoting prosocial behaviour among Colombian adolescents: the evaluation of a universal school-based program using a multi-informant perspective

2022

The present study evaluated the efficacy of an Italian school-based intervention programme adapted in three Colombian sites (Medellín, Manizales, and Santa Marta) in promoting prosocial behaviour among adolescents. Using a pre-test-post-test design with a multi-informant approach, the present study assessed 451 students (Mage = 12.77, SD = 1.06) of the intervention group and 428 students (Mage = 12.64, SD = 1.01) by using self-report and peer rating measures of prosocial behaviour. After establishing the measurement invariance across time and informants, a latent difference score model showed the positive effect of the intervention programme in improving prosocial behaviour evaluated by pee…

Accurate Judgments of Neuroticism at Zero Acquaintance: A Question of Relevance

2014

Prior studies have consistently found a surprising inaccuracy of people's neuroticism judgments at zero acquaintance. Based on the Realistic Accuracy Model (Funder, 1995), we hypothesize that this is due to a lack of relevance of the situation in which targets are typically observed. Fifty participants were videotaped in a highly trait-relevant (i.e., socially stressful) situation as well as three less relevant situations. An aggregate of self-reports and informant reports was used as the accuracy criterion. Four independent groups of unacquainted observers judged participants' neuroticism based on these short video sequences. Results showed that neuroticism judgments were significantly mor…

Professionals' Views on the Comparatively Low Prevalence of Intimate Partner Violence Against Women in Spain.

2021

The aim of this study was to understand the reasons why Spain has one of the lowest prevalence rates of intimate partner violence against women (IPVAW) in the European Union. Using a qualitative and inductive research approach, a total of five focus groups ( n = 19) and 10 unstructured interviews with key informants were conducted. Three main categories were identified as possible explanations of the relatively low prevalence of IPVAW in Spain: law and policy, social awareness, and cultural patterns. Lessons learned and implications to improve future macrolevel intervention and prevention strategies are discussed.

La ricerca sul campo come extraordinary experience. Una proposta di ricerca multidisciplinare

2010

Reflexive criticism focused its attention on writing texts, neglecting the experience of observation, on which the practice of field research is built, and it rarely paid attention to the experience of researchers. The triple relationship established between the anthropologist, the world and the “other” reveals the deep interrelation between the three levels of this “complex isotopy”. This essay addresses the problem of how a person can interact with another within the ethnographic practice. Ethnographic research doesn’t consist only in dialogues but also in bodily experiences that have a key role in the production of ethnographic representations. Experiential anthropologists believe that w…

Multi-informant evaluation in autism spectrum disorder: a review study.

2020

In order to establish a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), assessment by different informants is required. Sometimes, however, there are certain discrepancies between evaluators. With the aim of shedding light on possible discrepancies between informants, this work includes an updated review of the literature to examine the degree of agreement between different informants regarding the characteristic symptomatology of ASD in children and adolescents (up to 17 years of age). A total of 20 studies were analyzed, in which the levels of correlation between the evaluations carried out by different informants were moderate or low. A large part of the studies included in this review foun…

Espacios y prácticas de participación ciudadana. Propuestas educativas desde una mirada intercultural

2018

2017

Tässä tutkimuksessa haluttiin tarkastella Behavioral and Emotional Rating Scale (BERS), Strenghts and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Viivi (5-15), Home Situation Questionnaire (HSQ) ja School Situation Questionnaire (SSQ) ja Keskittymiskysely (KESKY) kyselylomakkeiden eroja ja yhteyksiä sekä vertailtiin opettajien ja vanhempien tulkintoja lapsen keskittymisen, tarkkaavaisuuden ja toiminnanohjauksen ongelmista. Tämän tutkimuksen aineisto on kerätty osana Jyväskylän yliopiston kasvatustieteiden laitoksen ja Niilo Mäki instituutin Minäpystyvyys ja oppimisvaikeusinterventiot – hanketta syksyllä 2013. Tutkimukseen osallistui 66 lasta, joiden tarkkaavaisuutta, keskittymistä ja toiminnanohjaust…
