Website localization towards the Norwegian market : an analysis of American firm´s websites

2011

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2011 - Masteroppgave i informasjonssystemer- Universitetet i Agder 2011 This study is the first involving international firms and the localization of firms' websites for a Norwegian audience. In order to give the reader a better understanding of the topic, we first conducted a literature review where we identified five key themes related to website localization: standardization versus localization, localization website design characteristics, website localization measurement and cultural depictions in websites. The research method used in this thesis is a quantitative analysis of data collected via the content analysis of web…

Motivations and usage patterns of social networking sites : exploring cultural differences between United States & Sri Lanka

2013

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2013 Cybernetics has experienced a major breakthrough and led to the utilization of computers at nearly all parts of daily life. The new technology created online social networking. Even though Social Networking Sites (SNS) are a global phenomenon, it is constrained by local conditions such as culture. Thus, the purpose of the study is to incorporate cultural dimensions to the motivations and usage patterns of the SNS considering SNS as a collection of features (chat, status updates, groups etc...). Present study replicates a study made in the United States in Sri Lanka, and identified differences, trace them to cultural reas…

The online marketing of religion : online marketing of religion: analysing social media use by online christian evangelists

2011

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2011 Inspired by a growing interest among scholars and practitioners concerning the promise and reality of the Internet’s ability to transform existing practices, the current study examines how evangelists actually use the Internet in their evangelism efforts. Theoretically, online evangelism is an emerging new approach to traditional evangelism. Underlying its emergence are expectations and initial evidence concerning Internet’s ability to transform certain aspects of organizations’ forms of promotions (for full detail see chapter 3). More specifically, this study engages in an abductive theory development effort with the go…

A new styracosternan hadrosauroid (Dinosauria: Ornithischia) from the Early Cretaceous of Portell, Spain

2021

A new styracosternan ornithopod genus and species is described based on the right dentary of a single specimen from the Mirambell Formation (Early Cretaceous, early Barremian) at the locality of Portell, (Castellón, Spain).Portellsaurus sosbaynatigen. et sp. nov. is diagnosed by two autapomorphic features as well as a unique combination of characters. The autapomorphies include: the absence of a bulge along the ventral margin directly ventral to the base of the coronoid process and the presence of a deep oval cavity on the medial surface of the mandibular adductor fossa below the eleventh-twelfth tooth position. Phylogenetic analyses reveal that the new Iberian form is more closely related …

Reference set of Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical strains: A tool for research and product development

2018

TheMycobacterium tuberculosiscomplex (MTBC) causes tuberculosis (TB) in humans and various other mammals. The human-adapted members of the MTBC comprise seven phylogenetic lineages that differ in their geographical distribution. There is growing evidence that this phylogenetic diversity modulates the outcome of TB infection and disease. For decades, TB research and development has focused on the two canonical MTBC reference strains H37Rv and Erdman, both of which belong to Lineage 4. Relying on only a few laboratory-adapted strains can be misleading as study results might not be directly transferrable to clinical settings where patients are infected with a diverse array of strains, includin…

Factors affecting peak impact force during soccer headers and implications for the mitigation of head injuries

2020

It has been documented that up to 22% of all soccer injuries are concussions. This is in part due to players purposely using their head to direct the ball during play. To provide a more complete understanding of head trauma in soccer athletes, this study characterized the effects of four soccer ball characteristics (size, inflation pressure, mass, velocity) on the resulting peak impact force as it relates to the potential for incurring neurophysiological changes. A total of six hundred trials were performed on size 4 and 5 soccer balls as well as a novel lightweight soccer ball. Impact force was measured with a force plate and ball velocity was determined using motion capture. These data we…
