Project “Linguistically sensitive teaching in all classrooms” (Listiac) aims to make an impact on initial teacher education systems in Europe through action research. In line with European policies, the seven partner countries including Finland, Spain (the autonomous Basque country and Catalonia), Belgium, France, Slovenia, Lithuania and Portugal work together in providing competences and skills needed for handling linguistic diversity in our schools. In well-being research the term happiness is often used as synonymous with life satisfaction. However, little is known about lay people's understanding of happiness. Building on the available literature, this study explored lay definitions of happiness across nations and cultural dimensions, analyzing their components and relationship with participants' demographic features. Participants were 2799 adults (age range = 30-60, 50% women) living in urban areas of Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Hungary, India, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, and United States. Bradavidiini on Bradyrhizobium japonicum bakteerista löydetty avidiinin ja streptaviidiinin kaltainen proteiini. Avidiini on peräisin kanasta ja streptavidiini Streptomyces avidinii bakteerista. Bradavidiinin aminohapposekvenssi on noin 30 prosenttisesti samankaltainen avidiinin ja streptavidiinin ydinalueiden sekvenssien kanssa. Bradavidiini koostuu 138 aminohaposta ja C-terminaalisesti pienennetty bradavidiini, ns. bradcore, 118 aminohaposta. Objective: Low serum albumin concentration is associated with poor health outcomes, but its relationship with the risk of fractures has not been reliably quantified. We aimed to assess the prospective association of serum albumin with the risk of fractures in a general population. Subjects and Methods: Baseline serum albumin concentrations were measured in 2,245 men aged 42–61 years in the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease study. Hazard ratios (HRs) (95% confidence intervals) were calculated for incident fractures. Pasaulē saslimstība ar alerģijām aizvien turpina pieaugt. No dažādām alerģiskām slimībām cieš aptuveni 30 – 40% pasaules iedzīvotāju. Respiratorās alerģijas ir biežāk sastopamās alerģijas formas. Zināms, ka no alerģiska rinīta pasaulē cieš aptuveni 5 – 50% populācijas, bet no bronhiālās astmas 5 – 12%. On-line construction of a small automaton for a finite set of words

In this paper we describe a ``light'' algorithm for the on-line construction of a small automaton recognising a finite set of words. The algorithm runs in linear time. We carried out good experimental results on the suffixes of a text, showing how this automaton is small. For the suffixes of a text, we propose a modified construction that leads to an even smaller automaton.
Dietary acid load and renal function have varying effects on blood acid-base status and exercise performance across age and gender

Diet composition influences acid-base status of the body. This may become more relevant as renal functional capacity declines with aging. We examined the effects of low (LD) versus high dietary acid load (HD) on blood acid-base status and exercise performance. Participants included 22 adolescents, 33 young adults (YA), and 33 elderly (EL), who followed a 7-day LD and HD in a randomized order. At the end of both diet periods the subjects performed a cycle ergometer test (3 × 10 min at 35%, 55%, 75%, and (except EL) until exhaustion at 100% of maximal oxygen uptake). Introduction: The diversity of allergic rhinitis (AR) phenotypes is particularly evident in childhood, suggesting the need to analyze and identify new approaches to capture such clinical heterogeneity. Nasal cytology (NC) is a very useful diagnostic tool for identifying and quantifying nasal inflammation. Data-driven approaches such as latent class analysis (LCA) assign subjects to classes based on their characteristics.
