Computational modeling of protein diffusion in the cell nucleus using the lattice-Boltzmann method

The number of fluorescence applications and methods of analysis is growing in the biological and related sciences. The aim of this work was to accurately determine the diffusion coefficient in nucleus, diffusion in the cytoplasm and nucleo-cytoplasmic translocation should be considered as well. Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) experiments were used in order to study protein diffusion. A numerical model for FRAP was used to determine the diffusion properties of proteins. The present method removed the difficulties of the conventional analysis, could produce, interesting results for protein diffusion in the cell.

Obywatelska inicjatywa ustawodawcza daje możliwość współdecydowania o najważniejszych kwestiach w państwie. W artykule przedstawiono pojęcie inicjatywy ludowej oraz jej podział ze względu na formę, zasięg terytorialny, przedmiot inicjatywy oraz stopień pośrednictwa. Opisano również procedurę obywatelskiej inicjatywy ustawodawczej w sprawie częściowej oraz całkowitej zmiany konstytucji w Szwajcarii. Wskazano praktykę stosowania tej formy demokracji bezpośredniej na każdym szczeblu administracji publicznej Konfederacji Szwajcarskiej.

Kvantu galīgi automāti var sasniegt eksponenciālu stāvokļu skaitu efektivitāti, salīdzinot ar determinētiem galīgiem automātiem. Viena problēma, kurā ir zināms, ka kvantu galīgiem automātiem ir eksponenciālas priekšrocības, ir MODn problēma, taču nav zināma metode, kā uzkonstruēt tādu kvantu automātu. Šajā darbā eksponenciāli efektīvie MODn algoritmi tiek vispārināti jaunā algoritmā, kas samazina vajadzīgo stāvokļu skaitu. Jaunā algoritma saaistības ar esošiem virzieniem literatūrā tiek aprakstītas, un tiek piedāvātas divas jaunas skaitļu virknes, kuras varētu izmantot, lai uzkonstruētu tādus kvantu automātus.
Discrete exterior calculus for photonic crystal waveguides

The discrete exterior calculus (DEC) is very promising, though not yet widely used, discretization method for photonic crystal (PC) waveguides. It can be seen as a generalization of the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The DEC enables efficient time evolution by construction and fits well for nonhomogeneous computational domains and obstacles of curved surfaces. These properties are typically present in applications of PC waveguides that are constructed as periodic structures of inhomogeneities in a computational domain. Photoactivation in the Photoactive Yellow Protein, a bacterial blue light photoreceptor, proceeds via photo-isomerization of the double C=C bond in the covalently attached chromophore. Quantum chemistry calculations, however, have suggested that in addition to double bond photo-isomerization, the isolated chromophore and many of its analogues, can isomerize around a single C-C bond as well.
