Hartree-Fock calculations and photoelectron spectra of SSO and NSF

1974

Results from ab initio Hartree-Fock calculations on the ground states of SSO and NSF are reported. The calculations employ large basis sets of Gaussian functions of essentially double zeta quality. The photoelectron spectra of the bent triatomic molecules with 18 valence electrons, i.e. SSO, NSF, O3, SO2, NSCl are compared. Further experimental details of the photoelectron spectrum of SSO are presented and an assignment of the observed ionic states of SSO⊕ is attempted. The calculated dissociation energies, dipole moments and the population analyses are given. The correlation effect is qualitatively discussed in connection with the applicability of Koopmans' theorem for the bent tri-atomic …

ChemInform Abstract: Theoretical and Spectroscopic Studies on Imino-Carbon Palladated Pyridine-2-carbaldimines.

1987

Abstract Ab initio LCAO-MO-SCF calculations on the model compounds C 5 H 4 N-2-C(R 1 )=NH [R 1 = H ( 2c ) and R 1 = trans -PdCl(PH 3 ) 2 ( 4c )] indicate that the E - trans conformation is favored over the E - cis one by 16.9 kJ mol −1 for 2c and by 25.0 kJ mol −1 for 4c . One of the factors which stabilizes the E-trans arrangement for 4c is a weak bonding interaction between the palladium center and the pyridine nitrogen. On going from 2c to 4c a slight charge enrichment on the pyridine carbons and a more pronounced one on the nitrogen atoms is computed, whereas the charge density of the imino carbon atom is decreased. In 4c no π contribution to the PdC bond is observed. Protonation of th…

Response to salinity stress of Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae strains in the presence of different legume host plants

2011

We investigated the effect of residual salts from the previous summer’s irrigation on two non-irrigated cover crops—broad bean and common vetch—and on their rhizobial symbiontics. Before sowing, seeds were inoculated with a salt-tolerant strain and a salt-sensitive strain of Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar viciae. An increase in the electrical conductivity of the saturated-soil extract from 2.0 dS m−1 to 6.0 dS m−1 caused a severe reduction of broad bean biomass, while growth of common vetch was almost unaffected by the salinity level. Our results clearly indicate that common vetch as a cover crop may increase the availability of nitrogen in soil more than broad bean also in saline environme…

Differential Translational Efficiency of the mRNAs Isolated from Derepressed and Glucose Repressed Saccharomyces cerevisiae

1987

Summary: Carbon catabolite derepression induced changes in the pool of yeast mRNAs translatable in a protein-synthesizing reticulocyte system. Competition experiments with globin mRNA showed that the mRNA population obtained from derepressed cells possessed a higher translational efficiency than mRNA from repressed cells. The mRNAs that could account for the high translational efficiency of the derepressed mRNA were not detected in cells growing in glucose-rich medium. Analysis of protein synthesis in the presence of 7-methylguanosine 5′-phosphate indicated that the initiation factors recognizing the 5′-terminal structure of capped messengers interacted with lower affinity with the represse…

Parvalbumin-containing neurons in the cerebral cortex of the lizardPodarcis hispanica: Morphology, ultrastructure, and coexistence with GABA, somatos…

1993

The morphology, fine structure, and degree of colocalization with GABA, somatostatin, and neuropeptide Y of parvalbumin-containing cells were studied with immunocytochemistry in the cerebral cortex of the lizard Podarcis hispanica. Parvalbumin-containing cells make up a morphologically heterogeneous population of spine-free neurons, displaying the morphological features of nonprincipal cells previously described in Golgi studies. Electron microscopically, parvalbumin-immunoreactive cell bodies are similar in all cortical areas and layers. The perisomatic input is moderate in number, and boutons with either round clear vesicles or flattened vesicles were observed making asymmetric or symmetr…

Educational dialogue in the classroom : scaffolding, knowledge building and associations with academic performance

2018

The present thesis focuses on patterns of educational dialogue, their quality with respect to forms of teacher scaffolding and shared knowledge building, and the association between the quality of educational dialogue and students’ academic performance. The specific questions of interest are as follows: (1) to examine how teachers scaffold students in learning situations through dialogic teaching, (2) to identify patterns of shared knowledge building in educational dialogues, and (3) to investigate how the quality of educational dialogue is associated with academic performance. The data were drawn from the audio- and video-recorded lessons of the First Steps longitudinal study, which were c…

Alterations in Daphnia magna exposed to enniatin B and beauvericin provide additional value as environmental indicators

2022

Mycotoxins beauvericin (BEA) and enniatin B (ENN B) affect negatively several systems and demand more studies as the mechanisms are still unclear. The simultaneous presence of contaminants in the environment manifests consequences of exposure for both animals and flora. Daphnia magna is considered an ideal invertebrate to detect effects of toxic compounds and environmental alterations. In this study, the potential toxicity and the basic mechanism of BEA and ENN B individually and combined were studied in D. magna. Acute and delayed toxicity were evaluated, and transcript levels of genes involved in xenobiotic metabolism (mox, gst, abcb1, and abcc5), reproduction, and oxidative stress (vtg-S…

„Człowiek w mocy Ducha Świętego”. Teologiczne założenia pneumatologicznej antropologii Nikosa Angelosa Nissiotisa

2018

Opracowanie stanowi prezentację podstawowych założeń pneumatologicznej antropologii jednego z najwybitniejszych greckich teologów prawosławnych XX w., Nikosa Angelosa Nissiotisa. Antropologia Nissiotisa jest chrystologicznie i pneumatologicznie zorientowana. Nissiotis proponuje, by istotnym paradygmatem interpretacji nauki o stworzeniu człowieka uczynić misterium wcielenia.

Computational procedures for plastic shakedown design of structures

2004

The minimum volume design problem of elastic perfectly plastic finite element structures subjected to a combination of fixed and perfect cyclic loads is studied. The design problem is formulated in such a way that incremental collapse is certainly prevented. The search for the structural design with the required limit behaviour is effected following two different formulations, both developed on the grounds of a statical approach: the first one operates below the elastic shakedown limit and is able to provide a suboptimal design; the second one operates above the elastic shakedown limit and is able to provide the/an optimal design. The Kuhn–Tucker conditions of the two problems provide usefu…

Bounds on plastic strains for elastic plastic structures in plastic shakedown conditions

2007

The problem related to the computation of bounds on plastic deformations for structures in plastic shakedown condition (alternating plasticity) is studied. In particular, reference is made to structures discretized by finite elements constituted by elastic perfectly plastic material and subjected to a special combination of fixed and cyclic loads. The load history is known during the steady-state phase, but it is unknown during the previous transient phase; so, as a consequence, it is not possible to know the complete elastic plastic structural response. The interest is therefore focused on the computation of bounds on suitable measures of the plastic strain which characterizes just the fir…
