IEEE Std. 1459 power quantities ratio approaches for simplified harmonic emissions assessment

The paper investigates the suitability of using power ratio parameters for harmonic emissions assessment at the point of common coupling (PCC). The study is carried out starting from the IEEE Std. 1459-2010 apparent power decomposition, where power factors are defined for evaluating line utilization and harmonic pollution levels. In addition, the study investigates the behavior of new parameters, which are expressed in terms of ratio between IEEE Std. 1459-2010 power quantities. Evolution of fluctuations in the initial state of heavy-ion collisions from RHIC to LHC

Fluctuations in the initial state of heavy-ion collisions are larger at RHIC energy than at LHC energy. This fact can be inferred from recent measurements of the fluctuations of the particle multiplicities and of elliptic flow performed at the two different energies. We show that an analytical description of the initial energy-density field and its fluctuations motivated by the color glass condensate (CGC) effective theory predicts and quantitatively captures the measured energy evolution of these observables. The crucial feature is that fluctuations in the CGC scale like the inverse of the saturation scale of the nuclei.

Effective theory approaches to heavy meson resonances based on non-perturbative low energy two-meson dynamics

This dissertation provides a theoretical effective description of a special class of hadronic meson states with charm and bottom quark content and their associated phenomenology. The considered states are difficult to be accommodated in CQMs and are candidates to be interpreted as meson molecules. This relies on the assumption that their main properties can be described by means of an effective low energy interaction of two more fundamental mesons. We have paid special attention to the relevant symmetries of QCD and two-body unitarity to construct the low energy effective meson-meson interactions. Darba teorētiskais ietvars ir balstīts Reivinas Konnelas (Raewyn Connell) hegemoniskās maskulinitātes teorētiskā koncepta ietvaros. This study aimed to characterise pressurised hot water (PHW) extracts from nonconventional sources of functional carbohydrates and phenolic compounds in terms of antioxidant capacity, antiviral activity, toxicity, and human erythrocytes’ protection antidiabetic potential. PHW extracts of Norway spruce bark (E1 + E2) and Birch sawdust (E3 + E4) contained mostly galactoglucomannan and glucuronoxylan. In contrast, samples E5 to E9 PHW extracted from Norway spruce, and Scots pine bark are rich sources of phenolic compounds. On yleisesti tiedossa, että maito on terveellistä ja parantaa luun kestävyyttä. Tutkimusten perusteella osa maidon proteiineista lisää luuta muodostavien osteoblastien määrää ja ehkäisee luun haurastumista estämällä esiosteoklastien erilaistumista luuta hajottaviksi osteoklasteiksi. Osteoblastit erilaistuvat multipotenteista mesenkymaalisista kantasoluista. Tällöin maidon proteiineilla saattaa olla fysiologinen rooli luun kasvamisessa ja paranemisessa. Mathematical modelling of sustainable bioresidual concrete

In the production of cement, which is the main component of concrete production, the process generates about 5% of the global carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, bioproduct and pulp mills produce signi_cant quantities of soda ash and bio-ash, which is still largely unused. In this paper we will introduce our study related to improving the environmental friendliness of concrete used in construction by utilizing pulp mill waste while its long-term durability and strength and porosity properties meet the goals set for construction. The project `sustainable bioresidual concrete' is on-going and only preliminary numerical results with measurements are presented here. peerReviewed
