Modelling glow curves of thermoluminescent radiometric devices

2017

Thermoluminescent (TLD) radiation dosimeters enjoy wide usage due to low cost and simplicity of use. They however require complex device modelling in order to extract the measured dose. A new glow peak model and fit method are presented, that offer a more robust fit to the glow-curves and allows operators to enter visually inspectable parameters (rather than physical quantities difficult to estimate from the visual inspection of the glow curves themselves). Fits performed on the GLOCANIN-challenge's RefGlow-002 and RefGlow-009 [2] are presented, highlighting the good performance of the GEMINI C++ code written.

Investigation of modern oil paints through a physico-chemical integrated approach. Emblematic cases from Valencia, Spain

2020

Abstract The study and the characterisation of modern and contemporary oil paintings is still a challenging issue, in particular considering the significant changes in paint production across the 19th and 20th centuries. This paper presents the results of the first physico-chemical integrated study of the artistic materials used in six paintings from the School of Art and Higher Design of Valencia (Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny, EASD-Valencia), artworks created between 1871 and 1943 by four famous Valencian artists: Salustiano Asenso Arozarena, Salvador Abril I Blasco, Enrique Navas Escuriet and Jose Bellver Delmas. A wide range of inorganic and organic compounds was identified through…

Quantum mechanical settings inspired by RLC circuits

2018

In some recent papers several authors used electronic circuits to construct loss and gain systems. This is particularly interesting in the context of PT-quantum mechanics, where this kind of effects appears quite naturally. The electronic circuits used so far are simple, but not so much. Surprisingly enough, a rather trivial RLC circuit can be analyzed with the same perspective and it produces a variety of unexpected results, both from a mathematical and on a physical side. In this paper we show that this circuit produces two biorthogonal bases associated to the Liouville matrix $\Lc$ used in the treatment of its dynamics, with a biorthogonality which is linked to the value of the parameter…

Integrated Production and Predictive Maintenance Planning based on Prognostic Information

2019

International audience; This paper address the problem of scheduling production and maintenance operation in predictive maintenance context. It proposes a contribution in the decision making phase of the prognostic and health management framework. Theprognostics and decision processes are merged and an ant colony optimization approach for finding the sequence of decisions that optimizes the benefits of a production system is developed. A case study on a single machine composed of several components where machine can have several usage profiles. The results show thatour approach surpasses classical condition based maintenance policy.

Towards an integrated design of renewable electricity generation and storage systems for NZEB use: A parametric analysis

2021

Abstract Although nearly zero energy buildings have attracted growing research attention, literature analysis shows that only a limited number of researches try to couple load match/grid interaction issues and environmental impacts in early design stages. The study proposes a novel multidisciplinary design approach that allows to integrate these two conflicting aspects aiming to find trade-offs. The proposed approach has been applied to a building case study, equipped with a photovoltaics system without energy storage. The results show that even though on yearly basis the energy use (5,290 kWhe) is largely overcome by the on-site energy generation (8069 kWhe), an oversized PV system alone m…

Asymptotic behaviour of mixed-type circuits. Delay time predicting

1991

In the preceding chapter we have shown that the delay time problem in integrated circuits leads us to consider mixed-type circuits with distributed elements described by Telegraph Equations and lumped resistive and capacitive elements (Figure 4.5). Moreover, the well-posedness of the mathematical model (P(B, V0)) = (E) + (BC) + (IC) has been studied, various conditions for the existence, uniqueness and L2stability of different kind of solutions being formulated.

RESTORING, REUSING RURAL LANDSCAPES. A CASE STUDY: THE AREA OF MENFI IN SICILY

2017

The contribution focuses on the potential of the rural landscape of Sicily, to cope with the depopulation of the smaller towns, by relying on an integrated conservation, which means not only the preservation of the endogenous territorial resource values, but also the production of surplus values. The Italian countryside is scattered with unknown and derelict “minor” heritage, this substantializes the European identity, and we should take action with a view to recovery and reuse it. However, in a time that sees a renewed interest in the potential of the agrarian landscape, it is believed that the current concept of restoration, which is now extended to the cultural and environmental heritage…

How can integrated marketing communications and advanced technology influence the creation of customer-based brand equity? Evidence from the hospital…

2014

Abstract As the most recent approach of communication management, the integrated marketing communication (IMC) programmes, enhanced by the advancements in information and communication technology (ICT), are considered an important contribution to the brand equity building. However, hardly any research has been done on the role of this new communication practice in the hospitality industry. Moreover, previous studies have mainly focused on managers’ opinions, overlooking customers’ perceptions of both marketing communications and advanced technology. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to examine, from the customer perspective, the impact of integrated marketing communications on hotel…

The Impact of Integrated Marketing Communications on Hotel Brand Equity

2020

The Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) approach appeared as a response to the need for more sophisticated marketing communication discipline in a confusing tourism marketing environment. This chapter examines the impact of IMC on the hotel brand equity dimensions, i.e. brand image, perceived quality, and brand loyalty. Moreover, it estimates the moderating effect of national culture on the relationships examined. The study is approached from the customer perspective and uses survey methodology to assess guests' perception of IMC and brand equity in the hotel contexts. In particular, 335 hotel guests participated in the empirical investigation while staying in high-quality hotels in R…
