International audience; This paper proposes a method of quantification of the components underlying the human skin that are supposed to be responsible for the effective reflectance spectrum of the skin over the visible wavelength. The method is based on independent component analysis assuming that the epidermal melanin and the dermal haemoglobin absorbance spectra are independent of each other. The method extracts the source spectra that correspond to the ideal absorbance spectra of melanin and haemoglobin. International audience; Background/Purpose The ASCLEPIOS system developed by the M2D+ team of the Le2i laboratory (Université de Bourgogne, France) allows determination of a skin reflectance spectrum over the visible wavelength range in each pixel of a 2D image, thereby generating a hyperspectral (3D) cube. Reflectance spectra mainly result from the reflectance of two skin chromophores, epidermal melanin and dermal haemoglobin. The inflammasome NLRP3 (NOD like receptor pyd containing 3) is a multiprotein complex notably responsible for IL-1β (interleukine-1β) production, an inflammatory cytokine. Negative effects have been observed in various diseases including cancer. My thesis focuses on the effects of NLRP3 in cancer.In my first project, I studied the NLRP3 inflammasome activation in MDSC (myeloïd derived suppressor cells) after a chemotherapy treatment. Two chemotherapies, 5-Fluorouracil and Gemcitabine, are selectively able to kill MDSC, an immunosuppressive population growing during cancer evolution. Background: Procollagen C-proteinase enhancer-1 (PCPE-1) is an extracellular glycoprotein that increases activity of certain zinc metalloproteinases involved in tissue development and repair. Results: PCPE-1 binds uniquely to the C-propeptide region of the procollagen molecule. Conclusion: PCPE-1 enhances proteolysis by binding solely to the procollagen C-propeptides. Significance: These data may lead to future applications in the development of antifibrotic therapies.
Achievement of thermotolerance through hsps phosphorylation in sea urchin embryos.

TPA treatment of sea urchin embryos is able to induce thermotolerance. Evidence is provided that TPA treatment induces phosphorylation of a constitutive stress protein of 38 KDa.
Immunological detection of phenylalanine hydroxylase protein in Drosophila melanogaster.

A monoclonal antibody raised against monkey liver phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) has been used to detect this protein in Drosophila melanogaster. A cross-reacting material (CRM) band of apparent molecular mass 50-52 kDa, equivalent to that deduced for the Drosophila melanogaster PAH protein based on the pah gene cDNA sequence, has been detected. This CRM was analysed throughout development and showed an equivalent pattern to that reported for PAH activity in this insect, with maxima at pupariation and at pharate adult formation. Background & Aims Foxp3-expressing regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a key role in the maintenance of the gut immune homeostasis, and an intact transforming growth factor (TGF)-β signaling is required for their function. In inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the TGF-β signaling is impaired because of high expression of the inhibitory molecule Smad7. Although no intrinsic defects in Tregs function have been shown in IBD, it is still unknown whether colitogenic T cells are susceptible to Treg-mediated suppression.
