Entrepreneurial orientation and export intensity: Examining the interplay of organizational learning and innovation

Nowadays how to be a successful exporter has reach great importance. Some studies on the entrepreneurial orientation literature highlights the attitude of the manager to make risky strategies such as strategies toward exports. But might the CEO's attitude toward entrepreneurship be sufficient to achieve greater SMEs export performance? Through an analysis of a database of Spanish and Italian SMEs, we find that entrepreneurial orientation is a managerial attitude that enhances exports when managers also make efforts in organizational learning and innovation. Analysing the link between export intensity, innovation and firm size in a science-based industry

Abstract The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between export intensity, innovation and size in a particular technological setting: a science-based industry. Using a sample of 121 firms in the French biotechnology industry, we have found that firm size is not a determinant for innovation or for export intensity. However, the results show a positive and significant link between innovation and export intensity. Our findings open a new agenda for policy-makers when interpreting how they should promote innovation and exports in science-based firms.

Abstract To date there is limited empirical evidence as to how the nature of uncertainty determines the mode of entry into international markets. The aim of this work is to further analyse this relationship by presenting a multidimensional concept of uncertainty within the context of the service sector. On thermal influence of laser beam irradiation on optical absorption of amorphous as-evaporated As2S3 films

Abstract Photoinduced changes of the optical absorption in amorphous as-evaporated As 2 S 3 thin films are studied. Before the measurements films were kept at dark for more than two years. The long storage time ensured that the relaxational structural changes caused by the deposition process were absent. As a light source a CW unfocused 488.0 nm Ar laser line was used. The intensity of the laser beam was varied from rather low intensity values up to intensities which raised the temperature of the films above the glass transition temperature. Application of low intensity ultrasonics to cheese manufacturing processes.

Ultrasound has been used to non-destructively assess the quality of many foods such as meat, fish, vegetables and dairy products. This paper addresses the applications of low intensity ultrasonics in the cheese manufacturing processes and highlights the areas where ultrasonics could be successfully implemented in the future. The decrease of ultrasonic attenuation during the renneting process can be used to determine the optimum cut time for cheese making. The ultrasonic velocity increases during maturation for those types of cheese that become harder during this manufacturing stage, thus being an indicator of the maturity degree. [EN] High index facet bounded alpha-Fe2O3 pseudocubic crystals has gained the attention of the scientific community due to its promising electrochemical sensing response towards aqueous ammonia. The structural stability of alpha-Fe2O3 pseudocubic crystals is investigated through high-pressure Raman spectroscopy up to 22.2 GPa, and those results are compared with our ab initio theoretical calculations. The symmetry of the experimental Raman-active modes has been assigned by comparison with theoretical data. Friction and wear testing of multilayer coatings on carbide substrates for dry machining applications

Abstract The principle aim of this paper is to investigate three wear-protective coatings with multilayer structures, which are frequently used in the cutting tool industry and to assess their frictional behaviour under the test conditions equivalent to those for the cutting of medium carbon steel. A modified pin-on-disc tester was used to conduct experiments in which both the friction coefficient and the linear wear of the tribo-pair were recorded vs. sliding distance. Fatigue crack initiation and subsequent crack growth in fillet welded steel joints

Abstract The fatigue damage evolution in fillet welded steel joints where cracks are emanating from the weld toe is investigated. Based on existing experimental data for as-welded joints including crack depth measurements of the early crack growth it is proposed to make a distinction between the crack initiation phase and the subsequent crack growth phase. The welded detail in question is an F class detail with plate thickness 25 mm made of medium strength carbon steel. It is found that the crack initiation phase defined at a crack depth of 0.1 mm is close to 25% of the fatigue life even at a relatively high constant stress range of 150 MPa.
