Abstract Context: A significant gap separates Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) models representing processes from the design of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). Objective: This paper reports on a family of experiments to validate a method to automatically generate GUIs from BPMN models using stereotypes complemented with UML class primitives, and transformation rules. Nonlocal Interface Mechanical Model

The paper presents a nonlocal elastic damage-frictional interface model. The reason to introduce nonlocal mechanical features inside the constitutive relations is justified by the fact that there are several circumstances, in which the interface displays inside an extended process zone with microstructural spatial interactions. Typically, spatial bridging mechanical effects can be effectively modeled by integral (strongly nonlocal) stress-strain relations. The paper develops an elastic nonlocal model with local isotropic damage and the relations are constructed following a thermodynamical consistent approach.

A four-channel photoplethysmography device was designed and built at University of Latvia to detect signals from different body parts and to analyze the signal shapes. The device consists of optical contact probes, interface, and a standard PC. Clinical tests were performed with occlusion patients having vascular problems at arm or leg arteries. However, fairly little attention has been devoted to the design of ubiquitous computing approaches for spontaneous exploration of large information spaces enabling co-located collaboration. We investigate whether an entity-based user interface provides a solution to support co-located search on heterogeneous devices. Photocatalytic coalescence of functionalized gold nanoparticles.

A novel strategy for the synthesis of chromophore-functionalized AuNPs with a narrow size distribution is reported. It consists of increasing the size of preprepared NPs by means of a fast (second scale) and clean (light and an organic photocatalyst) method. The results agree with thiolate ligand liberation from the NP surface promoted by photogenerated radicals. This lets gold cores come together and finally coalesce.
EFFECT OF SURFACTANT AND SUBSTRATE TEMPERATURE ON THE GROWTH OF Ag FILMS ON A SAPPHIRE SURFACE

The possibility of modification of the thin film growth on an insulating (sapphire) substrate by using a Ga monolayer as a "surfactant" was studied. We found that the films grown in this way are electrically conducting and can emit photoelectrons at much lower thickness than those deposited on a pure substrate. The surfactant stabilizes the positions of Ag atoms on the substrate surface and inhibits the coalescence of small nuclei into bigger islands, even when the film is annealed to 450 K. This fact may be very important for thin metal film technology.
Gestural Attributions as Semantics in User Interface Sound Design

This paper proposes a gesture-based approach to user interface sound design, which utilises projections of body movements in sounds as meaningful attributions. The approach is founded on embodied conceptualisation of human cognition and it is justified through a literature review on the subject of interpersonal action understanding. According to the resulting hypothesis, stereotypical gestural cues, which correlate with, e.g., a certain communicative intention, represent specific non-linguistic meanings. Based on this theoretical framework, a model of a process is also outlined where stereotypical gestural cues are implemented in sound design.

The experience of interactive systems can be a rather complex set of events. The perceptions appeal to the user's senses including visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and gustatory. Taken from a human factors approach, the sensitivity of the senses can be measured very closely and units of measurement arise from the "just noticeable difference." The paper presents connections between perception, awareness, and creativity from the biophysical point of view. Attention was drawn to human senses’ limitations and their influence on cognition. The role of interfaces connecting brain with computer and particular role of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) are indicated which the authors believe will be the next stage of human brain supporting technology evolution. It will enable the growth of perception, awareness, and creativity, and consequently lead to social development.
