Virtual atomic and molecular data centre

The Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC, http://www.vamdc.eu) is a European Union funded collaboration between groups involved in the generation, evaluation, and use of atomic and molecular data. VAMDC aims to build a secure, documented, flexible and interoperable e-science environment-based interface to existing atomic and molecular data. The project will cover establishing the core consortium, the development and deployment of the infrastructure and the development of interfaces to the existing atomic and molecular databases. Thermodynamics-based gradient plasticity theories with an application to interface models

AbstractIn the framework of small deformations, the so-called residual-based gradient plasticity theory is reconsidered and improved. Using the notion of moving geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs), suitable micromechanics interpretations are heuristically given for the higher order boundary conditions and the long distance particle interactions. Also, a comparison is made between this theory and the analogous virtual work principle (VWP)-based one, whereby their respective conceptual and methodological features are pointed out. ABSTRACT In this paper we present an interfacial finite element designed for analysing planar interfaces in a three-dimensional approach. The element is derived from Hellinger-Reissner's mixed variational principle and takes into account the continuity of the displacement and of the transverse stress components through the interface. Stress analysis of a sandwich plate is made to assess the validity and the effectiveness of the element models, with comparisons to closed-form and numerical solutions.

This paper describes the contribution given by the application of the systems engineering approach to the European DEMO Breeding Blanket (BB) integration studies, focussing on the integration of Heating & Current Drive (H&CD) and Fuelling Lines (FL) systems. Empathes: A general code for nudged elastic band transition states search

Abstract An easy and flexible interface, Empathes (Extensible Minimum PATH EStimator), that allows to perform Nudged Elastic Band calculation for the determination of transition states is presented. The code is designed to be easily modified, in order to be associated with the user's preferred calculation software, even with those which implement composite approaches. Antecedents of the Barriers Toward the Adoption of Unified Payment Interface

This study examines the influence of factors related to consumer resistance on the intention to continue using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) for electronic payments. UPI facilitates advanced, peer-to-peer, immediate payment with seamless interoperability among banks in India. The study extends the innovation resistance theory by including two behavioral measures - privacy concerns and visibility - and two moderators - security concerns and word of mouth (WOM). It used cross-sectional data collected from 714 UPI users aged between 16 and 55 years to test the proposed research model. In this chapter 20 former research subjects in brain–computer interface (BCI) studies answer questions concerning their experiences with this novel technology. They talk about their state of information, their expectations, their achievements, and also their disappointments. The answers display a wide spectrum of attitudes and personal assessments ranging from enthusiastic appreciation to skeptical reservation. Many users mention the current shortcomings but also stress the potential of the tested technology.

Aluminium-steel plating by press welding

A series of researches related to aluminium-steel plating by press welding are presented in the paper. In this sense, the influence of the roughness of the aluminium and steel test samples was taken into account, but also of the post-welding heat treatment on the characteristics of the joints made. S355 steel specimens and AlMgSi0.7 F27 aluminium specimens were analyzed. The samples were processed and roughness Ra = 2.51-51.09 µm were obtained. Also, after making the joints, a postwelding heat treatment was applied which consisted of a heating at a temperature of 425 °C with a duration of 6.5 hours and a slow cooling to room temperature.
