Combined Temperature Radiation Effects and Influence of Drawing Conditions on Phosphorous‐Doped Optical Fibers
2018
International audience; This work focuses on the effects of high dose ionizing radiation, up to 10 MGy(SiO2), on P‐doped multimode optical fibers (OF) at different irradiation temperatures. The investigation is based on two complementary experimental techniques: radiation‐induced attenuation (RIA) measurements and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). The latter technique allows measuring the P1, P2, metastable‐POHC and stable‐POHC defects. Three OF samples are drawn from the same preform to evaluate the influence of changing their drawing conditions of the OFs on the radiation responses. This first study is performed under X‐rays at room temperature. The results are compared with the ones…
Porous architecture and thermal properties of thermal barrier coatings deposited by suspension plasma spray
2020
Abstract Besides the intrinsic low heat transfer capability of material, the thermal insulation property of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) also relies on their microstructures. For better understanding the relationship between process parameters, porous architecture, and thermal properties of coatings, YSZ coatings were firstly manufactured by suspension plasma spray (SPS). Afterwards their total porosities were characterized by using the technique of X-ray transmission, the nano/submicro pores in those coatings were detected with Ultra-Small Angle X-ray Scattering (USAXS), and the thermal properties of coatings were measured using the laser flash method. The results indicated that: i) the…
Learning music: prospects about implicit knowledge in music, new technologies and music education
2008
International audience; The chapter proposes an overview of musical learning by underlining the force of the cognitive system, which is able to learn and to treat complex information at an implicit level. The first part summarises recent research in cognitive sciences, that studies the processes of implicit learning in music perception. These studies show that the abilities of non-musicians in perceiving music are very often comparable to those of musicians. The second part illustrates by means of some examples the use of multimedia tools for learning tonal and atonal music; these tools take advantage of the interaction between visual and auditive modalities.

On the use of geophysical methods to characterize heterogeneities of quaternary alluvial deposits. Application to stormwater infiltration.
2007
Colloque avec actes et comité de lecture. International.; International audience; Stormwater infiltration basins are generally built on geological formations with large values of hydraulic conductivity. Such is the case for quaternary alluvial formations, among which are glaciofluvial deposits. Two geophysical investigation methods, namely ground-penetrating radar and electrical tomography, were tested on an infiltration basin built on a glaciofluvial deposit. Geophysical profiles were calibrated on a trench wall dug in the glaciofluvial formation. A sedimentological study coupled to geophysical measurements behind the trench wall highlights the three-dimensional architecture of the deposit…
