Inclusive pion double charge exchange on 16O at 0.6-1.1 GeV
2003
The inclusive pion double charge exchange (DCX) on oxygen nuclei has been measured in the region where additional pion production is kinematically forbidden. The experiment was performed at ITEP PS at incident pi- kinetic energies T_0= 0.59, 0.75 and 1.1 GeV. The integrated forward differential cross section was found to decrease with energy slowly. At 1.1 GeV it exceeds the theoretical prediction within the conventional sequential single charge exchange mechanism with a neutral pion in the intermediate state (Glauber elastic rescattering) by about half an order of magnitude. The sequential mechanism with two pions in the intermediate state (Glauber inelastic rescatterings), which was propo…
Thee+e−→2(π+π−)π0,2(π+π−)η,K+K−π+π−π0andK+K−π+π−ηcross sections measured with initial-state radiation
2007
We study the processes $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0\gamma$, $2(\pi^+\pi^-)\eta\gamma$, $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\gamma$ and $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\eta\gamma$ with the hard photon radiated from the initial state. About 20000, 4300, 5500 and 375 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 232 fb$^{-1}$ of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective $e^+ e^-$ center-of-mass energy, so that the obtained cross sections from the threshold to about 5 GeV can be compared with corresponding direct \epem measurements, currently available only for the $\eta\pi^+\pi^-$ and $\omega\pi^+\pi^-$ submodes of the $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0$ channel. Charged current weak electroproduction of the Delta resonance
1998
We study the weak production of $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ (i.e., ${e}^{\ensuremath{-}}+\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}{\ensuremath{\Delta}}^{0}+{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ and ${e}^{+}+\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}{\ensuremath{\Delta}}^{++}+{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e})$ in the intermediate energy range corresponding to the Mainz and TJNAF electron accelerators. The differential cross sections $\ensuremath{\sigma}(\ensuremath{\theta})$ are found to be of the order of ${10}^{\ensuremath{-}39}$ cm${}^{2}$/sr, over a range of angles which increases with energy. The possibility of observing these reactions with the high luminosities available at these accelerators, and studying the…
Search for directCPviolation in singly Cabibbo-suppressedD±→K+K−π±decays
2013
We report on a search for direct CP violation in the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D^+→K^+K^-π^+ using a data sample of 476 fb^(-1) of e^+e^- annihilation data accumulated with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II electron-positron collider, running at and just below the energy of the Υ(4S) resonance. The integrated CP-violating decay rate asymmetry A_(CP) is determined to be (0.37±0.30±0.15)%. Model-independent and model-dependent Dalitz plot analysis techniques are used to search for CP-violating asymmetries in the various intermediate states. We find no evidence for CP-violation asymmetry.
Measurement of resonant andCPcomponents inB¯s0→J/ψπ+π−decays
2014
Structure of the decay Bs0→J/ψπ+π- is studied using data corresponding to 3fb-1 of integrated luminosity from pp collisions produced by the LHC and collected by the LHCb detector. Five interfering π+π- states are required to describe the decay: f0(980),f0(1500),f0(1790),f2(1270), and f2′(1525). An alternative model including these states and a nonresonant J/ψπ+π- component also provides a good description of the data. Based on the different transversity components measured for the spin-2 intermediate states, the final state is found to be compatible with being entirely CP odd. The CP-even part is found to be <2.3% at a 95% confidence level. The f0(500) state is not observed, allowing a limi…
Structure at 2175 MeV ine+e−→ϕf0(980)observed via initial-state radiation
2006
We study the initial-state-radiation processes e+e-→K+K-π+π- γ and e+e-→K+K-π0π0γ using an integrated luminosity of 232fb-1 collected at the Υ(4S) mass with the BABAR detector at SLAC. Even though these reactions are dominated by intermediate states with excited kaons, we are able to study for the first time the cross section for e+e-→ (1020)f0(980) as a function of center-of-mass energy. We observe a structure near threshold consistent with a 1 - resonance with mass m=2.175±0. 010±0.015GeV/c2 and width Γ=58±16±20MeV. We observe no Y(4260) signal and set a limit of BY→ π+π-•ΓeeY<0. 4eV (90% confidence level), which excludes some models. © 2006 The American Physical Society.
Cross section ratio and angular distributions of the reaction p + d -> 3He + eta at 48.8 MeV and 59.8 MeV excess energy
2014
We present new data for angular distributions and on the cross section ratio of the p + d -> 3He + eta reaction at excess energies of Q = 48.8 MeV and Q = 59.8 MeV. The data have been obtained at the WASA-at-COSY experiment (Forschungszentrum J\"ulich) using a proton beam and a deuterium pellet target. While the shape of obtained angular distributions show only a slow variation with the energy, the new results indicate a distinct and unexpected total cross section fluctuation between Q = 20 MeV and Q = 60 MeV, which might indicate the variation of the production mechanism within this energy interval.
Double polarization experiments at intermediate energy
1999
At modern electron accelerators with highly polarized, intense, high duty factor beams double polarization coincidence experiments became feasible with good statistical accuracy. The strong potential towards the precise determination of small nucleon structure quantities is illustrated by two recent examples from MAMI. The measurement of $G_E^n$ in the quasifree reaction $D(\vec e, e'\vec n)p$ lead to a new parametrization of $G_E^n$ which is significantly above the previously preferred one from elastic $e-D$ scattering. A $p(\vec e, e'\vec p)\pi^0$ experiment at the energy of the $\Delta$ resonance yields preliminary results for the longitudinal quadrupole mixing. Both experimental errors …
The role of charged exotic states in e+e− → ψ(2S) π+π−
2019
Abstract In this work, we use the dispersion theory to provide a physical description of recent BESIII data on the reaction e + e − → ψ ( 2 S ) π + π − . Taking into account explicitly the effects of charged exotic intermediate states in the t- and u-channels as well as the two-pion final state interaction, we describe the invariant mass distribution for four different e + e − center-of-mass energies. The effects of the ππ rescattering are accounted for in a single channel Omnes approach which is found to explain the ππ-invariant mass distributions at all e + e − center-of-mass energies. For q = 4.226 GeV and q = 4.258 GeV the already established charged exotic state Z c ( 3900 ) is conside…
Two neutral pion photoproduction off the proton between threshold and 800 MeV
1997
Abstract The photoproduction of two neutral pions off the proton has been studied for incident photon energies between E γ = 309 MeV (threshold) and 792 MeV with the TAPS photon spectrometer at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. Both 3γ- and 4γ-events have been analysed in order to deduce the total p ( γ , 2 π 0 ) p cross section. The total cross section is less than 300 nb between threshold and ⋍ 460 MeV, beyond which it starts to rise to a maximum value of about 11 μb at around 750 MeV. For the highest energies it starts to decrease again. The 4γ-sample has been used to reconstruct 2 neutral pions from the above reaction channel by an invariant mass and a missing mass analysis. After reconstructio…
