Utility of social networks and online data collection in nursing research: Analysis of Spanish nurses’ level of knowledge about palliative care

Introduction Internet-based social networks are used by nurses with different purposes, including the creation of working groups and to share and create knowledge. Purpose To evaluate the utility of social networks in the dissemination of an online questionnaire and to measure Spanish RNs’ knowledge about palliative care. A prospective study on an innovative online forum for peer reviewing of surgical science

Background Peer review is important to the scientific process. However, the present system has been criticised and accused of bias, lack of transparency, failure to detect significant breakthrough and error. At the British Journal of Surgery (BJS), after surveying authors' and reviewers' opinions on peer review, we piloted an open online forum with the aim of improving the peer review process. Proposal of a neuro-fuzzy model of a WWW server

2005

This paper presents the ways of designing simulation models of Web servers. At the beginning queuing network models are introduced, those models are generally known and often used in the initial phase of research on particular technical solutions. Next, an entirely new approach to the issue discussed is presented - neuro-fuzzy models, thanks to which, it is possible to automate the process of designing simulation models. The results of comparative tests of these two models are presented. Based on these results it can be concluded that neuro-fuzzy models are accurate and can be used in simulation research.

Internet addiction (IA) has mostly been investigated with the fear of missing out and difficulties in emotional regulation. The present study examined the link between IA and variables related to problematic social media use (i.e., fear of missing out, social media addiction), together with emotional (dys)regulation and personality traits, providing new insights and an integrated assessment of IA.
