Marques d'oralitat en els xats

2008

The aim of this article is to determine, from the analysis of a real corpus, whether the traits associated with colloquial orality are present in chats. Chats, from the channel’s point of view, belong to the written mood of production, which has traditionally been associated with a high level of formality. However, they present features which are characteristic of the oral discourse, as Torres and Cuenca (2007) state. We have chosen as corpus of analysis chats which present a low level of formality and which are considered to be representative of the model of language used there. The challenge is focused on revealing how aspects of colloquial orality are present in written texts. The articl…

State of the art about use of IoT in education

2018

Every day the devices connected autonomously to the communication networks are increased. New applications arise for this type of interconnected objects, thus offering new alternatives for solutions of any kind, through the use of technology based on ubiquitous computing. That is why this work is inspired by these new technologies for its application in the educational field, with the purpose of contributing to the imposition of the use of IoT as a tool1 in the classroom.

Projekts "Izgatavots Latvijā"

2016

Improving Participation, Accessibility and Compliance for Campus-Wide Mobile Emergency Alerting Systems

2009

University campus communities face a variety of hazards, from natural and technological disasters to terrorism and violence. In response to recent events, many campuses within the United States have begun to implement emergency notification systems utilizing email, text, and telephone-based messaging. These alerts are designed to reach members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and students and most rely upon an opt-in model for participation. The present design of both the registration process and the notification messages raise several concerns as to the effectiveness of notification systems. This research presents findings from an examination of emergency notification sys…

Bot recognition in a Web store: An approach based on unsupervised learning

2020

Abstract Web traffic on e-business sites is increasingly dominated by artificial agents (Web bots) which pose a threat to the website security, privacy, and performance. To develop efficient bot detection methods and discover reliable e-customer behavioural patterns, the accurate separation of traffic generated by legitimate users and Web bots is necessary. This paper proposes a machine learning solution to the problem of bot and human session classification, with a specific application to e-commerce. The approach studied in this work explores the use of unsupervised learning (k-means and Graded Possibilistic c-Means), followed by supervised labelling of clusters, a generative learning stra…
