The paper briefly reviews the main types of feedback that can be presented during online assessment and discusses the challenges in authoring and tailoring of feedback in WBLSs. We report the results of some recent experiments organized as online assessment of students through multiple-choice quizzes in which students were able to request diffe…

A framework for evaluating Internet-of-Things platforms: Application provider viewpoint

2014

Widespread adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) applications assumes a sustainable ecosystem of firms creating, distributing, and using these applications. Such an ecosystem often forms around a platform that implements commonly used functionality and offers it to the members of the ecosystem for creating applications and services. In IoT, such a platform may be materialized in a form of a cloud platform that supports the management of connected devices, and the development and use of the applications based on them. A number of cloud platforms targeting IoT applications are available in the market; to prosper, they need to assist the providers of the IoT applications in designing and develo…

Changes in customers behavior shopping online during Covid-19 pandemic.

2021

Mūsdienās interneta veikalu skaits pieaug katru dienu, jo to var izveidot praktiski ikviens.

However, far from being a value-neutral, curated learning environment, the Internet poses various challenges, including a large amount of incomplete, contradictory, erroneous, and biased information. With low barriers t…

Scanning and deep processing of information in hypertext: an eye tracking and cued retrospective think-aloud study

2016

When students solve problems on the Internet, they have to find a balance between quickly scanning large sections of information in web pages and deeply processing those that are relevant for the task. We studied how high school students articulate scanning and deeper processing of information while answering questions using a Wikipedia document, and how their reading comprehension skills and the question type interact with these processes. By analyzing retrospective think-aloud protocols and eye-tracking measures, we found that scanning of information led to poor hypertext comprehension, while deep processing of information produced better performance, especially in location questions. Thi…
