Information in the aspect of security threats and challenges

2019

INFORMATION IN THE ASPECT OF SECURITY THREATS AND CHALLENGESIn the article, the author describes the driving force behind deliberate informational activities. He pays particular attention to the current security situation in the information dimension. Existing systems in the area of security management should be resistant to disinformation and informational operations. There is no room for the freedom of interpretation of the information acquired since every decision results in the actions of people, therefore it requires accuracy and caution. This issue takes on a special dimension when it concerns the state, because this environment contains specific features such as a changing environmen…

El formalismo interpretativo y el iusnaturalismo actual: la posición de John Finnis | The Interpretive Formalism and the Current Iusnaturalism: The P…

2014

Abstract: Today, we can see a revival of formalist tendencies in the interpre…

Dignity and existential concerns among nursing homes residents from the perspective of their relatives

2014

Aims and objectives: The aim of this cross-country Scandinavian study was to explore how residents in nursing homes experience that their dignity is promoted and attended to. This is one part of the Scandinavian project in which we interviewed residents, relatives and staff members. Background: The main subject concerns the dignity of residents of nursing homes for older people. This article brings forward results from interviews of relatives on how they experience that the dignity is met, promoted and attended to for their next of kin. Design: The study was qualitative with a hermeneutic approach. Methods: Qualitative research interviews of 28 relatives of residents at six participating nu…

Economicism and Nihilism in the Eclipse of Humanism

2014

This article is based on the conviction that the major problems nowadays are not technical, but ethical, and are incumbent on homo qua homo. The origin of these problems is the advancement of economicism as a supreme interpretation of human and social reality, which means the primacy of the “market” and considering human beings in terms of what they have rather than what they are. Economicism emerges in “modernity” and assumes that everything that does not have market value is either devaluated or rejected. In consequence, the human being has been devaluated and has turned into a simple object of the market. “Postmodernity” mixes economicism and techno-scientificism (chrematistics and instr…

THE MAXWELL–DIRAC EQUATIONS: ASYMPTOTIC COMPLETENESS AND THE INFRARED PROBLEM

1994

In this article we present an announcement of results concerning: a) A solution to the Cauchy problem for the M-D equations, namely global existence, for small initial data at t = 0, of solutions for the M-D equations. b) Arguments from which asymptotic completeness for the M-D equations follows. c) Cohomological interpretation of the results in the spirit of nonlinear representation theory and its connection to the infrared tail of the electron in M-D classical field theory. The full detailed results will be published elsewhere.

Optimal control design of preparation pulses for contrast optimization in MRI

2017

Abstract This work investigates the use of MRI radio-frequency (RF) pulses designed within the framework of optimal control theory for image contrast optimization. The magnetization evolution is modeled with Bloch equations, which defines a dynamic system that can be controlled via the application of the Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP). This framework allows the computation of optimal RF pulses that bring the magnetization to a given state to obtain the desired contrast after acquisition. Creating contrast through the optimal manipulation of Bloch equations is a new way of handling contrast in MRI, which can explore the theoretical limits of the system. Simulation experiments carried out…

Pion and kaon vector form factors

2001

We develop a unitarity approach to consider the final state interaction corrections to the tree level graphs calculated from Chiral Perturbation Theory ($\chi PT$) allowing the inclusion of explicit resonance fields. The method is discussed considering the coupled channel pion and kaon vector form factors. These form factors are then matched with the one loop $\chi PT$ results. A very good description of experimental data is accomplished for the vector form factors and for the $\pi\pi$ P-wave phase shifts up to $\sqrt{s}\lesssim 1.2$ GeV, beyond which multiparticle states play a non negligible role. In particular the low and resonance energy regions are discussed in detail and for the forme…

Double Polarization Observables in η Electroproduction

2009

Abstract A new measurement of beam-recoil double-polarization observables in η electroproduction at the A1 collaboration at MAMI is presented. The energy region of the S 11 ( 1525 ) resonance was covered at a four-momentum transfer of Q 2 = 0.1 GeV 2 / c 2 . It turned out, that the usual interpretation of the reaction mechanism via S 11 and D 13 resonance fails to explain the relative phase between the corresponding multipole amplitudes tested by this experiment, while the new data are still in good agreement with previous measurements.

Interpretation of the Anomalous NaI Events

2001

Anomalous events, with scintillation decay times shorter than nuclear recoils, have been observed by the UKDMC and Saclay NaI experiments. By using the event categories observed in the EDELWEISS experiment, we propose to interpret the anomalous NaI events as surface nuclear recoils accompanied with a small energy loss of an escaping alpha particle. The discrimination performances of the NaI experiments which have not taken into account these events in their analysis, notably for axial WIMP interactions, must then be reevaluated.
