Cross-Talk Correction Method for Knee Kinematics in Gait Analysis Using Principal Component Analysis (PCA): A New Proposal

2014

International audience; Background: In 3D gait analysis, the knee joint is usually described by the Eulerian way. It consists in breaking down the motion between the articulating bones of the knee into three rotations around three axes: flexion/extension, abduction/adduction and internal/external rotation. However, the definition of these axes is prone to error, such as the "cross-talk'' effect, due to difficult positioning of anatomical landmarks. This paper proposes a correction method, principal component analysis (PCA), based on an objective kinematic criterion for standardization, in order to improve knee joint kinematic analysis. Methods: The method was applied to the 3D gait data of …

On the Role of Interpretation Schemes in Organizational IS Implementation

2006

The objective of this study is to clarify how interpretation schemes held by people involved in organizational IS change affect implementation efforts and the outcomes of user participation. It is found that interpretation schemes are dealt with in many ways in IS literature and the approaches are diverse and scattered. Based on the findings, It is asserted that during IS change, not only "tangible" changes are made, but first and foremost changes are needed to occur in the interpretation schemes that give meaning to the phenomena changed. It is also suggested that the outcomes of user participation are mediated by the interpretation schemes of the participants and, consequently, the effect…

Research-in-progress

2012

In this paper, we present a research-in-progress study where we are revisiting a well known knowledge-level framework of understanding (i.e. knowledge) of a system proposed by Olfman et al. (2006). The catalyst for this relook was the anomalies and incongruencies that surfaced when we tried to apply this framework in another study whose aim was to examine how hermeneutic reflection helps in learning. While the framework proved a useful vehicle to carry out hermeneutic analysis, it also proved inadequate in accounting for some significant aspects of what constitutes understanding of a system. A closer look at the data revealed that other theoretical premises could not only provide a better i…

Hermeneutik des Korans vor dem Anspruch der Vernunft

2018

The aim of this deliberation is to present the hermeneutics of the Koran in its dynamics between classical and modern researches. It is focused on answering the questions: How can the Muslims justify their faith more rationally? In what range the modern interpretation methods might be used in research on the Koran by Islamic theologians? In what way does the study of the Koran differ from the study of the Bible? The whole discussion involves three stages: characterization of the peculiarity of the nature of the Koran (1), presentation the exegetical method of editorial history with regard to the investigations of the chronology of the Koran (2), as well as presentation one of the signifiant…

En el principio... fue el deseo. La constitución del yo en "Metafísica de los tubos" : una lectura desde la teoría psicoanalítica

2010

This paper proposes an interpretation of Amelie Nothombs novel The Character of Rain (Metaphysique des tubes) from a literary perspective and adopts the theoretical model put forward in the lacanian psychoanalysis. From this point of view we discuss how this autofiction formalizes some of the steps involved in the subjective constitution paying special attention to the notion of desire, and how these are specified, formally and thematically, in the writing strategy the author

Los derechos en el Estado constitutional

2019

PEDAGOGICAL CONFLICT – THE CONTEMPORARY TECHNOLOGY OF THE COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH

2019

In the 21st century, the creative role of education in the socio-economic development is increasing. Therefore, education is focused not only on the acquisition of certain amount of knowledge by learners, but also on the development of creative abilities and personal qualities, including the ability and desire to study, the ability and desire to act and the ability and desire to create. These key competencies develop in the process of learning on the basis of the technologies of the competency-based approach. The research problem is the development of positive learning motivation for students as the means of transforming inter-personal conflict into pedagogical conflict, which promotes indi…

La natura delle cose

2022

The reference to the nature of things is still working today in legislation and jurisprudence. In this article the reasons for the persistence of this line of reasoning in law and in the legal science are examined. These reasons generally depend on the close connection between law and some fundamental social relations. But also the essential need to assure its effectiveness, without which law would be useless. In turn, the contemporary evolution of the legal culture requires a change in the way of understanding the nature of things. Nowadays, the nature of things distances itself from mere objectivism to get close to the deliberative character of the determination of the law

Paulson's Nomological Normativity

2013

In some of his recent work Stanley Paulson puts forward a number of important and ambitious exegetical claims about Hans Kelsen’s Pure Theory of Law. Some of these claims are not novel in Paulson’s rich Kelsenian corpus. But, taken together, these claims now amount to the main outlines of a fully-fledged interpretation of the theoretical foundations of the Pure Theory of Law. Paulson holds that (1) contrary to what Joseph Raz, Carlos S. Nino and many others have claimed, there is, in the Pure Theory of Law, no “justified normativity” thesis. Kelsenian normativity is, rather, “nomological” normativity. (2) ‘Validity’ is not, in the Pure Theory of Law, a matter of the reasons norm-subjects ma…
