Measurement of theCP-violating phaseβsJ/ψϕinBs0→J/ψϕdecays with the CDF II detector
2012
We present a measurement of the \CP-violating parameter \betas using approximately 6500 $$\BsJpsiPhi$$ decays reconstructed with the CDF\,II detector in a sample of $$p\bar p$$ collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=1.96$$ TeV corresponding to 5.2 fb$$^{-1}$$ integrated luminosity produced by the Tevatron Collider at Fermilab. We find the \CP-violating phase to be within the range $$\betas \in [0.02, 0.52] \cup [1.08, 1.55]$$ at 68% confidence level where the coverage property of the quoted interval is guaranteed using a frequentist statistical analysis. This result is in agreement with the standard model expectation at the level of about one Gaussian standard deviation. We consider the inclusion of a po…
High-rate dead-time corrections in a general purpose digital pulse processing system
2015
The abilities on dead-time correction of a real-time digital pulse processing (DPP) system for high-rate high-resolution radiation measurements are presented. The DPP system, through a fast and slow analysis of the output waveform from radiation detectors, is able to perform an accurate estimation of the true input counting rate (ICR), a fine pulse height (energy) and shape (peaking time) analysis even at high ICRs.
On the measured lifetime of light hypernuclei 3ΛH and 4ΛH
2014
A statistical combination of the experimental lifetime estimations available in the literatures is performed for 3 Λ H and 4 Λ H, including several recent measurements. The combined average values of the lifetime for 3 Λ H and 4 Λ H are respectively 216−16+19 ps and 192−18+20 ps with a reduced χ2 of 0.89 and 0.48. A new insight into the lifetime estimation of the HypHI Phase 0 experiment by a Bayesian approach is also presented. In this approach, several different prior distributions including the combination of previous lifetime data and a Jeffrey prior are used. The principal mode and the smallest credible interval at 68% of the posterior distribution, given by the prior belief of the pre…
Search for the Rare Decay B→πl+l−
2007
We have performed a search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decays B → π ℓ + ℓ − , where ℓ + ℓ − is either e + e − or μ + μ − , using a sample of 230 × 10 6 Υ ( 4 S ) → B ¯¯¯ B decays collected with the BABAR detector. We observe no evidence of a signal and measure the upper limit on the isospin-averaged branching fraction to be B ( B → π ℓ + ℓ − ) < 9.1 × 10 − 8 at 90% confidence level. We also search for the lepton-flavor-violating decays B → π e ± μ ∓ and measure an upper limit on the isospin-averaged branching fraction of B ( B → π e ± μ ∓ ) < 9.2 × 10 − 8 at 90% confidence level.
Beam Asymmetry of Coherentπ° Photoproduction on4Hein theΔ(1232) Range Measured using Coherent Bremsstrahlung
1997
Using coherent bremsstrahlung at MAMI (Mainz), the beam asymmetry of the differential cross sections for coherent $\ensuremath{\pi}\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ photoproduction on ${}^{4}\mathrm{He}$ has been measured in the energy interval from 200 to 500 MeV at an angle of ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\mathrm{lab}}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}37\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$. The coherent ( $\ensuremath{\gamma},\ensuremath{\pi}\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$) reaction is used as a precise linear polarimeter for the first time. Agreement with predictions has been obtained on a $\ensuremath{\gtrsim}3%$ level of precision.
Search for γγ→ηb in e+e− collisions at LEP 2
2002
A search for the pseudoscalar meson eta_b is performed in two-photon interactions at LEP~2 with an integrated luminosity of 699 pb^-1 collected at e+e- centre-of-mass energies from 181 GeV to 209 GeV. One candidate event is found in the six-charged-particle final state and none in the four-charged-particle final state, in agreement with the total expected background of about one event. Upper limits of Gamma_gammagamma(eta_b) * BR(eta_b -> 4 charged particles) 6 charged particles) < 132 eV are obtained at 95% confidence level, which correspond to 95% confidence level upper limits of 9.0% and 25% on these branching ratios.
X-ray variability of NGC 2516 stars in the XMM-Newton observations
2006
We present the characteristics of the X-ray variability of stars in the cluster NGC2516 as derived from XMM-Newton/EPIC/pn data. The X-ray variations on short (hours), medium (months), and long (years) time scales have been explored. We detected 303 distinct X-ray sources by analysing six EPIC/pn observations; 194 of them are members of the cluster. Stars of all spectral types, from the early-types to the late-M dwarfs, were detected. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test applied to the X-ray photon time series shows that, on short time scales, only a relatively small fraction (ranging from 6% to 31% for dG and dF, respectively) of the members of NGC2516 are variable with a confidence level $\geq$99%…
Analysis of the incoherent intermediate scattering function in the framework of the idealized mode-coupling theory: A Monte Carlo study for polymer m…
1994
In this Monte Carlo simulation, we calculate the incoherent intermediate scattering function ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\varphi}}}_{\mathit{q}}^{\mathit{s}}$(t) for a three-dimensional dense polymer melt after having made long relaxation runs in order to eliminate the history of the cooling procedure sufficiently. This function shows the signature of a two-step process in the temperature interval T\ensuremath{\in}[0.16,0.21] (the temperature is measured in units of an energy parameter introduced in the Hamiltonian of the model) whose time evolution was quantitatively analyzed in the framework of the idealized mode-coupling theory (MCT) within the \ensuremath{\beta}-relaxation regime. As a result…
TMS activation of interhemispheric pathways between the posterior parietal cortex and the contralateral motor cortex
2009
Using a twin coil transcranial magnetic stimulation (tc-TMS) approach we have previously demonstrated that facilitation may be detected in the primary motor cortex (M1) following stimulation over the ipsilateral caudal intraparietal sulcus (cIPS). Here we tested the interhemispheric interactions between the IPS and the contralateral motor cortex (M1). We found that conditioning the right cIPS facilitated contralateral M1 when the conditioning stimulus had an intensity of 90% resting motor threshold (RMT) but not at 70% or 110% RMT. Facilitation was maximal when the interstimulus interval (ISI) between cIPS and M1 was 6 or 12 ms. These facilitatory effects were mediated by interactions with …
Analytic solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations
2001
We consider the time dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on an half plane. For analytic initial data, existence and uniqueness of the solution are proved using the Abstract Cauchy-Kovalevskaya Theorem in Banach spaces. The time interval of existence is proved to be independent of the viscosity.
