Dog-Owner Relationship, Owner Interpretations and Dog Personality Are Connected with the Emotional Reactivity of Dogs

Simple Summary The relationship between owner and the dog affects the dog's attachment behaviors and stress coping. In turn, the quality of the relationship may affect owner's interpretations about their dog's behavior. Here, we assessed dogs' emotional responses from heart rate variability and behavioral changes during five different situations. Dog owners evaluated the emotion (valence and arousal) of their dog after each situation. We found that both negative and positive incidents provoked signs of emotional arousal in dogs. Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa peruskouluikäisten sijoitettujen lasten ja nuorten koulunkäynnin tukemiseksi toteutetut interventiotutkimukset. We determined whether six-weeks endurance exercise, without changing diet, affected the gut metagenome and systemic metabolites of overweight women. Previously sedentary overweight women (n = 19) underwent a six-weeks endurance exercise intervention, but two were excluded due to antibiotic therapy. The gut microbiota composition and functions were analyzed by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and metagenomics. Tutkimukset osoittavat, että pitkittyneet koulupoissaolot aiheuttavat ongelmia nuorille, vanhemmille, kouluille ja koko yhteiskunnalle. Koulupoissaolotyyppien avulla voidaan tunnistaa nuoresta, huoltajasta ja koulusta johtuva poissaolo. Koulupoissaolojen taustalla voi olla jopa 60 eri syytekijää, joita on tärkeä oppia tunnistamaan. Kolmitasoisen tuen mallia voidaan käyttää apuna koulupoissaoloihin puuttumisessa. Rehearsing to control depressive symptoms through a behavior change support system

Depressive symptoms are generally coupled with distress and high treatment costs. We present our on-going research on a Web-based behavior change support system, which utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a rehearsal tool. We present a summarized account of the research setting, studied persuasive software features, and a brief account of initial data analysis. Our work presents implications on design interventions for mental well-being and human-computer interaction.

Growth Into Citizenship: Framework for Conceptualizing Learning in NGO Interventions in Sub-Saharan Africa

This article develops a theoretical framework for analyzing adult learning in projects aiming to strengthen citizenship implemented by nongovernmental organizations, especially in the contexts of sub-Saharan Africa. On the basis of a review of international development research, we suggest that a new framework should address the need for a conceptualization of learning as a gradual process and for capturing the gap between ideal models and everyday experiences of citizenship. Concurrent exercise and metformin administration may reduce the acute and chronic effects of exercise on glucose metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, several studies suggest that combing metformin and exercise treatment may have no additive effect and even cause adverse effects in T2D patients.
