Nenoteiktības nenoturības saistība ar elektrodermālās aktivitātes rādītājiem

2019

Betatrophin Levels Are Related to the Early Histological Findings in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

2021

Betatrophin, a liver hormone, regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. We investigated the betatrophin levels in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and searched for any relationship with histological severity and metabolic parameters. Fifty males with NAFLD [Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) (n = 32)

High-Fat Diet Induces Pre-Diabetes and Distinct Sex-Specific Metabolic Alterations in Negr1-Deficient Mice

2021

In the large GWAS studies, NEGR1 gene has been one of the most significant gene loci for body mass phenotype. The purpose of the current study was to clarify the role of NEGR1 in the maintenance of systemic metabolism, including glucose homeostasis, by using both male and female Negr1−/− mice receiving a standard or high fat diet (HFD). We found that 6 weeks of HFD leads to higher levels of blood glucose in Negr1−/− mice. In the glucose tolerance test, HFD induced phenotype difference only in male mice

Increased dosage of Ink4/Arf protects against glucose intolerance and insulin resistance associated with aging

2013

Recent genome-wide association studies have linked type-2 diabetes mellitus to a genomic region in chromosome 9p21 near the Ink4/Arf locus, which encodes tumor suppressors that are up-regulated in a variety of mammalian organs during aging. However, it is unclear whether the susceptibility to type-2 diabetes is associated with altered expression of the Ink4/Arf locus. In the present study, we investigated the role of Ink4/Arf in age-dependent alterations of insulin and glucose homeostasis using Super-Ink4/Arf mice which bear an extra copy of the entire Ink4/Arf locus. We find that, in contrast to age-matched wild-type controls, Super-Ink4/Arf mice do not develop glucose intolerance with agi…

When other rules defend dissidents : the situation of Protestants and Orthodox Christians in the Polish - Lithuanian Commonwealth of the Saxon era

2018

The article address the problem of limiting the rights of Protestants and other non-Catholic Christian denominations during the reigns of two kings from the Wettin dynasty - King Augustus II (1697-1733). The process started as early as the second half of the 17th century, but it was fully accomplished in the years 1717-1736. In the article the author discussed the resolutions of the sejms and other legal acts introduced at that time, the aim of which was to eliminate dissenters from public life. The Polish monarchs were inert towards the process. It was the rulers of non - Catholic European states (Prussia, Russia and Great Britain) that helped Protestants an Orthodox Christans in Poland

Intolerance of Uncertainty and Risk Perception during the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Mediating Role of Fear of COVID-19

2022

The COVID-19 pandemic, a period of uncertainty and risk, has presented a threat to people’s physical and mental health worldwide. Previous research has shown that pandemic-related uncertainty can contribute to individuals’ psychological distress and coping responses. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and risk perception (i.e., individual’s perceived likelihood of becoming infected both for themselves and people in one’s own country and perceived severity of the infection), and the mediating role of fear of COVID-19. This two-wave longitudinal study (T1 = April 2020; T2 = May 2020) involved 486 youn…
