This paper reports on an empirical study on prosody in English-German simultaneous interpreting. It discusses prosody with particular reference to its tonal, durational and dynamic features, such as intonation, pauses, rhythm and accent, as well as its main functions, i.e. structure and prominence. Following a review of previous studies on the topic, a conceptual approach for the analysis of prosody in terms of structure and prominence is developed and subsequently applied to an authentic corpus of professional simultaneous interpretation consisting of three German versions of a 72-minute English source text. The main goal of this article is to provide evidence in favor of the phonological character of some intonational contrasts in Catalan. First, the article shows that tonal alignment differences with respect to metrically strong positions are crucial for the distinction between a yes-no question and a wh-question (cf. "¿Que l’ha llogada?" vs. "¿Qui l’ha llogada?") and between a command and a request ("¡Vine!" vs. "¡Vine!") in Central Catalan. Second, the article reports the major results from the application of the Categorical Perception Paradigm to a pitch height contrast in Majorcan Catalan (Vanrell 2006a). Cyprian Norwid był doskonałym mówcą oraz recytatorem poezji. Jeszcze w okresie pobytu w Polsce deklamował poezje autorów emigracyjnych oraz krajowych. Zwyczaj ten kontynuował, będąc na emigracji we Francji. Poeta uważał, że deklamacja to nie tylko jakiś umiejętny „wygłaszania-sposób”, ale dopełnienie, bez którego niemożliwe jest właściwe odczytanie poezji. Fuzzy tuning systems: the mathematics of musicians

We present some mathematical properties which determine tuning methods. We introduce the concept of fuzzy tuning systems and we analyze four of the systems coexisting within the current orchestras: Pythagorean, Just Intonation, Holder's and Equal Temperament systems. We show that the theoretical and practical tuning methods are the same. We introduce the idea of compatibility between tuning systems and we give some sufficient conditions to determine an appropriate number of notes into which the octave must be divided.

The development of the ability to sing or play in tune is one of the most critical tasks in music training. In music education, melodic patterns are usually learned by imitative processes (modelling). Once modelled, pitch sounds are then associ-ated to a representation according to a syllabic system such as the Guidonian system - or an arbitrary single syllable - or western graphic notation system symbols. En este artículo se propone una secuencia de actividades basada en algunas ideas del Método verbo-tonal (Guberina/Murillo, 2008; Padilla, 2018) la cual consta de cinco actividades, secuenciadas en percepción-producción/consciente-inconsciente (Padilla, 2015), para practicar la entonación expresiva. El elemento motivador que se emplea a lo largo de la secuencia didáctica es la película Del revés.
