The Bayesian estimation of private investment in Finland

Abstract This paper estimates an investment equation for private investment using Bayesian estimation techniques. In the paper we derive the optimal capital accumulation behavior in the model economy from the households’ optimization problem of utility. The equation is derived as in Smets and Wouters (2003). The model contains costly adjustment of investment and random shocks to adjustment cost function. The driving variable of investment is Tobin Q variable. The empirical proxy for Tobin Q in this paper is the ratio of OMX Helsinki Cap Index to the price index of the physical capital. Amazon was the world’s top R&D firm in 2017. Its R&D investment was double that of 2015, quintuple that of 2012, and tenfold that of 2011. Effects of contextual variables on strategic investment decision-making styles: An empirical study from Pakistan.

There is a gap in the literature of strategic investment decision making (SIDM) concerning the links between context variables, infrastructure and SIDM practices (or SIDM styles) in developing countries. This research aims to fill that gap. Survey data (N = 128) from the manufacturing companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange was collected via an e-mailed questionnaire and visits to the companies. Data are analyzed with factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. Kuntien omistamien peruskoulujen tilankäytön toteutumattomat skaalaedut

Julkisen koulurakentamisen vallitseva trendi on tehdä suuria, satojen oppilaiden yhtenäiskouluja. Tavoitteena on tuottaa oppimista tukevia tiloja ja mahdollistaa oppilaille eheä oppipolku koko peruskoulun ajaksi. Keskustelussa esiintyy usein myös olettamia suurempien yksiköiden teknistaloudellisista skaalaeduista. Tässä tutkimuksessa analysoitiin yli 350 peruskouluyksikön otoksella, liittykö koulukoon kasvattamiseen skaalaetuja tilankäytön näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen tulokset kyseenalaistavat käsityksen, että suurten koulujen oppilaskohtaiset tilakustannukset olisivat pääsääntöisesti pieniä kouluja edullisempia. peerReviewed
