2008
Light-emitting electrochemical cells with lifetimes surpassing 3000 hours at an average luminance of 200 cd m(-2) are obtained with an ionic iridium(III) complex conveniently designed to form a supramolecularly caged structure.
Ionic Nitriding of Certain Parts Protected on Nonfunctional Surfaces With Special Paints. Electric Energy Consumed
2021
The experimental researches on the promotion of new technologies for the local protection of metallic parts against plasma nitriding, led to two types of special paints for protection in ionic nitriding, paints elaborated on the basis of copper lamellar powder in combination with magnesium oxide and carbon tetrachloride. In the created context, it was considered that the elaborated paints could be used not only for preventing the hardening during ionic nitriding of certain technological surfaces of the parts on which they are applied, but also for coating certain nonfunctional surfaces, their degasification taking such a long time. These nonfunctional areas could be: surfaces resulted from …
Hydrothermal synthesis of nanostructured zirconia materials: Present state and future prospects
2005
Abstract Hydrothermal procedures for the synthesis of zirconia-doped nanocrystalline powders show important advantages from the thermodynamic and kinetic point of view (larger domain stability of solid species, faster kinetics crystallisation) as well as from technological point of view (one-step synthesis process at low temperatures, better control of the crystallisation and grain sizes with possibilities to obtain nanocrystalline materials, versatility, environmental friendly technology). Establishment of the conditions for obtaining ZrO2-doped with different oxides is based on thermodynamic predictions. Kinetic modelling of the hydrothermal synthesis of zirconia nanopowders is presented.…
Lifetime Measurements of Metastable States in Ions
1989
As pointed out by Dehmelt in 1973, optical transitions between ground- and metastable states of ions offer intrinsically very narrow natural lines and consequently may be used as frequency references in the optical domain. Several ions are considered as possible candidates and the measurement of their metastable state lifetime is being discussed. In the submillimeter region fine structure transitions between metastable ionic states have natural line-Q’s of the order of 1012. We propose to use Ca+ as a possible candidate to induce and detect such a transition.
Electrogeneration of Diiodoaurate in Dimethylsulfoxide on Gold Substrate and Localized Patterning
2016
International audience; A localized etching of gold surface by scanning electrochemical microscope technique is presented where a dimethylsulfoxide-based electrolyte charged with iodine is used. The electrogenerated triiodide ion at the platinum ultramicroelectrode tip (feedback mode) acts as an oxidant for gold surface. The effects of electrode diameter and the bias time have been investigated. The approach curve method was used to hold the electrode tip close to the gold surface. A scanning electron microscope is used to observe the etched gold surfaces where disk-shaped dots are generated. The diameter of these holes depends directly on the Pt electrode diameter and the bias time.
Ionic Space-Charge Effects in Solid State Organic Photovoltaics
2010
The effect of mobile ions on the operation of donor-acceptor bilayer solar cells is studied. We demonstrate the large effect ions can have on the energetics of the solar cells, illustrated by (for instance) changing the output voltage of a cell in situ from 0.35 to 0.74 V. More importantly, it is shown ionic species do not obstruct the charge generating properties of the photovoltaic devices and ionic space charge can be used in situ to improve their efficiencies. The results obtained are explained by taking into account energetic changes at the donor-acceptor interface as well as built-in potentials, giving clear guidelines on how ionic species can offer many new and exciting functionaliti…
Small Particles and Thin Films of Metals on Ceramic Oxides
1989
This paper is aimed at presenting some recent ideas and experimental results on characterization and properties of small particles and thin films of metals on oxide surfaces. Analysis is restricted to metallic films on well-defined surfaces, mainly monocrystalline surfaces and to ceramic oxides having a marked ionic character. The properties of metallic films obtained by chemical reduction of oxides and those of deposits are compared. Nucleation and growth modes are described. Interfacial properties are analysed in terms of size or thickness effect and in the general framework of the ceramic-metal bonding.
Mesomorphic and electrooptical properties of viologens based on non-symmetric alkyl/polyfluoroalkyl functionalization and on an oxadiazolyl-extended …
2019
Two different sets of ionic liquid crystals based on bistriflimide salts of non-symmetrically substituted polyfluorinated bipyridinium (viologens) and bent symmetrically substituted dialkyl-oxadiazolyl-bipyridinium have been synthesized, in order to study the effect on the mesomorphic and electrooptical properties of the non-symmetric functionalization (alkyl chain and fluoroalkyl chains of different lengths) on the two pyridinium rings and additionally the effect of a bent conjugated spacer among the two pyridinium units of the viologen. POM and DSC characterization show that the synthesized salts have a mesomorphic and, in some cases, polymesomorphic behaviour in a wide thermal range, als…
Lithium ion conducting PVdF-HFP composite gel electrolytes based on N-methoxyethyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)-imide ionic li…
2010
Blends of PVDF-HFP and ionic liquids (ILs) are interesting for application as electrolytes in plastic Li batteries. They combine the advantages of the gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) swollen by conventional organic liquid electrolytes with the nonflammability, and high thermal and electrochemical stability of ILs. In this work we prepare and characterize PVDF-HFP composite membranes swollen with a solution of LiTFSI in ether-functionalized pyrrolidinium-imide (PYRA12O1). The membranes are filled in with two different types of silica: i) mesoporous SiO2 (SBA-15) and a commercial nano-size one (HiSilTM T700). The ionic conductivity and the electrochemical properties of the gel electrolytes ar…
