Multifocal epithelial hyperplasia, a rare oral infection in Asia : report of twelve cases in Iran

Objectives: Multifocal epithelial hyperplasia (MEH) is benign, asymptomatic oral disease with viral etiology. The frequency of this disease varies widely from one geographic region to another, and can vary, from 0.002 to 35% depending on the population studied. Study design: Here we report the clinicopathological features of twelve cases of MEH referred to Oral Medicine Department of Mashhad Dental School for the first time in Iran. Records of patients with the diagnosis of MEH in our department during 7 years were analyzed and data were extracted. Background Ginger and aloe vera are two medicinal herbs mostly used to produce mouthwash. This study aimed to compare the effects of ginger and aloe vera mouthwashes on the xerostomia in patients referred to Bandar Abbas diabetes clinic (Iran). Material and Methods In this triple-blind clinical trial, three groups (n=35 patients in each group) were studied. One group was given aloe vera mouthwash, the other group used ginger mouthwash, and the control group was only given normal saline. The newly retrieved correspondence between Pirandello and Schirò helps us reconstruct the relationship between the two young writers, both protagonists of a time rich in events. Of no less importance were their passionate love stories with two young women by the same name: Lina Pirandello. The first Lina was the cousin of the writer whereas the other the sister of the future playwright. The background was that of the Palermo of the liberty style at the end of the 19th century while the cultural context was dominated by the great and renowned Sicilian figures of the time. En la segona part, s'explica detalladament la proposta local de creació i posada en marxa d'una xarxa agroecològica a la població d'Alcoi, que ve funcionant des de l'any 2009. A method to synthesize 2-phenylselenenyl-1,3-anti-diols and 2-phenyl- selenenyl-1,3-anti-azidoalcohols via hydroxy- or azido-selenenylation of trans-allylic alcohols is reported. Moreover, the first example of hydroxyl-selenenylation of an allylic azide is presented. Yields ranging from moderate to good and diastereomeric ratios up to 95:5 are achieved.
Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of Novel Fluorinated Ethanolamines

The preparation of novel fluorinated allylamines and their use as key fragments for the stereoselective synthesis of hydroxyethyl secondary amine (HEA)-type peptidomimetics is described. Our strategy employs chiral sulfinyl imines as synthesis intermediates, by treatment of hemiaminal precursors with two equivalents of vinylmagnesium bromide. The subsequent oxidation of the allylic amines to the corresponding epoxides was achieved by treatment with methyl(trifluoromethyl)dioxirane. Finally, epoxide ring opening with a range of nitrogen nucleophiles provided a library of HEA-derived peptidomimetics with a phenyldifluoromethylene moiety.
